Last few days until the CrossFit Open begins guys, have you signed up?? β’ For anyone new to CrossFit, the Open is a five week long online WOD competition that is open to every CrossFitter from every box around the world. This year, the fun (kind of) starts February 22nd and runs to March 26th. β’ Age is not a barrier to joining the fun and neither is experience, because there is a scaled WOD option every week so it really is accessible to all abilities.... β’ The Open is not just about the WODβs or RXing workouts, or pushing yourself to hit PBβs!!! Like CrossFit itself, the heart of the Open centres on building a healthy, supportive community through friendly competition. β’ Hereβs a few to consider if youβre still not sure whether to sign up to take part: 1. To see how far youβve come. You come in to the gym three to five times a week and work your butt off. The Open is a great way to showcase the results of all those efforts. More importantly, it will help push you to the next level. We have seen such amazing progress when people are put to the test of the CrossFit Open. 2. To count yourself within the community. Hundreds of thousands of people sign-up for the event each year, and the Open website allows you to see where you rank according to age and location. Donβt get nervous or shy about that, most people are only interested in their own progress! π 3. Because you can do it. The Open is tailored to all athletes, not just the pros and WODs are scaled accordingly that means YOU can do it. You can still watch in amazement at how the pros make the RX workouts look so easy, but going through the WOD at your intensity is a good reminder about what it takes to be at the pro level. β’ The Open is the one time of the year where you have the opportunity to showcase your skills and development while being cheered on by a supportive, fun group. Donβt get hung-up on thinking that the Open is for elite athletes only, or that youβre not ready for the challenge.

Recently joined mpg being totally new to crossfit but have been a member of various gyms over the years. I can honestly say this is by far the best place I have ever trained. Everyone is so friendly and supportive it's just a really great atmosphere. Matt and his team provide excellent coaching and the classes are always varied, fun and challenging. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about giving crossfit a go to come and try out mpg you won't regret it!!
My wife says this place is my second home, and as ever she's right! I have met some great people at Crossfit MPG, everyone is friendly and egos are most certainly left outside! a great place to train and get experience from the coach Matt Gigg who does a great job. I would definitely recommend Crossfit MPG, and often do!
I would highly recommend Crossfit MPG! I've never enjoyed exercise but I can honestly say I LOVE training now and it's all down to the coaches and the lovely group of people I train with. I've noticed results already and I've only been there two months! (2x week) I'm stronger and much fitter than I was. I've also made some really great friends!!! Thanks MPG crew! <3
I will always go to this box whatever age i am. This place is the friendliest & most welcoming i have ever been to. Mpg has changed my life in so many ways. I used to be shy with big groups of people especially in sport, but with the awesome coaching staff & the friendly fun members, i look forward to training EVERY day! This place is a must!! This is my 2nd home & always will be
I was in Portishead visiting for the week and I was made very welcome and part of the mpg community. Great coaching from Matt who took time to help me with my split jerk. Would definitely recommend to locals and visitors alike
I recently joined MPG being a complete novice to crossfit and I can honestly say I haven't looked back! It's a great atmosphere and everyone is so welcoming and encouraging. I feel challenged in each session and can feel and see positive changes in my fitness and strength. Onwards and upwards
I joined Crossfit MPG six months ago albeit with an air of trepidation. However, the welcoming, friendly and encouraging atmosphere soon put me at ease and I can honestly say there has been no looking back. The informative and proactive nature of owner/coach Matt Gigg and the other coaches has helped me to make leaps and bounds in my strength and all round fitness. The sessions are varied and suit all ages and abilities. I would definitely recommend Crossfit MPG whether you are looking to get fit or improve your current fitness.
Great place to train, really friendly members and excellent coaches. The programming is fab, my fitness, technique and strength has massively improved since I joined. Nothing is ever too much for the coaches who go out of their way to give help and advice.
Lots of specialist classes to help work on your weaknesses, even if you are a complete beginner you are encouraged and supported from day one. Lush place to train and we always have a laugh, real community feel and a lot of fun :-)
Fantastic place to work out! Fabulous people! Fitter in my 40's than I was in my 20's! Thoroughly recommend to anyone who gets bored at the gym, loves variety and happy to push themselves and see some fab results οΏ½
