My experience with Crystal Palace Physio Group was exceptional, I couldn't ask for a better service. I was referred to crystal Palace physio group by my sponsors GLL Sport Foundation as a professional athlete sometimes its hard to find someone to carry out the kind of treatment you need to perform on a world stage but this wasn't the case. thanks to GLL sports foundation and Crystal Palace physio group, I manage to finish 5th in the UK in the Olympic year for decathlon. @jahmalgermain

I read all the good reviews here and unfortunately this has not been my experience with the clinic. Referred to the sports clinic via NHS in March this year due to reduced mobility with my left arm and got my first appointment very quickly. Amy my physio was very nice. To me these were good signs but it has been downhill since. Over the months the pain and lack of mobility in my arm got worse and the exercises given seemed to increase the agony. I was in constant pain including waking at night because of it. I said this to Amy and she encouraged me to take painkillers (I am usually reluctant to take any drugs unless absolutely necessary). I took ibuprofen but the pain was still very bad.

Since my March appointment I have only been able to have 4 appointments (i.e. In 7 months). At my last appointment in September I complained to Amy that the gaps between appointments was too wide , the one before that was in July and Amy had not wanted me to book another for some time as she wanted me to take painkillers morning afternoon and evening for 2 weeks to get the pain under control. By the time she called to say I could book, the next appointment was towards the end of September.

In desperation I was referred by a friend to try private near my office and I paid for this. After 2 sessions in August there was an improvement. The physio there told me to stop all the exercises I was currently doing as they were making me worse and told me to stop taking the painkillers. He gave me 5 new exercises and gave me a rubber resistance band. He also advised me of things at home I could use to do certain exercises that would help and could be done anywhere.

Using the new exercises I am no longer in constant pain (unfortunately still in pain now and then with certain movements) and there has been a slight improvement to my arm rigidity. I gave this feedback to Amy and she asked that I see a specialist to review further options and she came herself to reception and booked the appointment which was to be today. Unfortunately it seems there is no such appointment. I have now been booked on the next available which is towards the end of November. Once again an almost 2 month gap between appointments.

To me this has not been a great service. I am not sure if I am just unlucky, or is it because I was referred under NHS or some other reason. It is the first time I have needed physio and there is a difference in care I received from the sports clinic and the private wellness physio clinic I went to near my office. I felt one star would be too harsh but at the moment I cannot say that I have benefited from my visits to the Crystal Palace sports clinic.

UPDATE

Since writing the above complaint I have been very impressed with the response of the clinic to remedy the matter. I had numerous calls to book me in to see someone to talk about my care so far and what would be done to remedy this. I had a new appointment today and met a new Physio Ray. He has augmented my exercises and has shown me a lot more information about my condition which is comforting for me to read up on my own. New appointment booked for 2 weeks. I am hopeful once again. So thank you.

Wholeheartedly recommend Crystal Palace Physio Group. Very Professional, very friendly, I've never been kept waiting, and you even get to walk through Crystal Palace Park to get there.

Events area auditorium lighting promptly checked and kept clean. Training area kept separately and fenced.

I've been to the clinic on two previous occasions over the years, once with a knee issue and once with an Achilles issue. I'm now back there again with an ankle problem I developed while running. Each time I've been seen by Clare who has been amazing. How she's diagnosed the problem correctly each time based on my vague descriptions is fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend her and the clinic unreservedly. Fantastic highly professional service.

After an injury to my Trapezius muscle I was referred here for physio. What lovely people! My injury was skillfully assessed and diagnosed by the physiotherapist. With rubber band exercises I can feel a difference already. I LOVE THE NHS & I LOVE CRYSTAL PALACE PHYSIO GROUP!

The clinic is part private and part of primary care service.

Went in on crutches with a dodgy knee and a leg that I couldn't lift from a lying position. Came out with no crutches, some treatment and an exercise programme. Leg and knee started to respond immediately. Fab!

User

Great staff but tough to get NHS appointment.

Earlier in the year I went in for the sports massage, it really helped break down a lot of my knotted muscles and I ended up going nearly weekly for about 6 weeks.

I received good advice on stretching routines and advice on how to care for my muscles better.

I've since been bashed around quite a bit (falling off my skateboard) so will likely venture in once again over winter.

5/5 I highly recommend them.
