Afternoon everyone, here's a brief update from our CEO, Francis Egan.

**Update - the original story has been removed, but we have left the information for clarification**
We can all agree that inaccurate reporting like this isn't helpful when people are looking for information:
“In a statement, Cuadrilla said no more fracking would take place before its licence ends on November 30 and that there were no plans to extend it.”
... This isn’t true. As per our earlier update, we have one condition of our planning permission which expires in November and means we cannot fracture or drill, but Preston New Road can remain a working site until April 2023. We announced our intention to apply for an extension in August. The licence is something entirely different.
“It seems attention will now turn to a second Lancashire site at Lower Bowland.”
The Lower Bowland shale refers to an area within the rock formation. Our first well at Preston New Road was drilled into the Lower Bowland and the second (most recent one) was drilled into the rocks above known as the Upper Bowland. There is no ‘second site’.
Hope this is helpful :-)

Morning, lots of people asking for clarification on our update yesterday. Planning permission at Preston New Road includes a condition that means we cannot fracture or drill beyond November but we can remain on site, carrying out other operations, until April 2023. We announced in August that we would seek an extension to this particular condition. This has not been submitted yet.
