Cuckoo Brow Inn. Far Sawrey Description

Situated in the heart of the quiet village of the Far Sawrey, just a ¾ mile pleasant stroll to the National Trust home of Beatrix Potter, our Lake District Inn welcomes you to come and sit by the fire. Situated at the top of the hill in between Lake Windermere and Hawkshead Village, surrounded by beautiful scenery, popular walking and cycling trails and of course the countryside which Beatrix Potter drew her inspiration from. We are a classic, yet contemporary Lake District Bed & Breakfast, which has recently been renovated and lovingly restored to its former glory. We now have 14 beautiful en-suite bedrooms, which are a selection of superking size, family and twin rooms, all rooms have power showers, 32” flat screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities and everything you would want from Lake District B& B.

We are passionate about the Lakes, and strive to source as much produce as possible from the from the bountiful area in which we sit, be that the Real Ales, the lamb for our Herdwick Hot Pot or the sausages for our Cumbrian Breakfast which of course no true Lake District B& B would be without.

We would like to welcome all to our little Inn, including those wishing to bring their dog away for a holiday in the Lakes. Whether you are popping in for a pint or coming to stay in the Lake District Bed & Breakfast, our doors are open and our fires are on.

Yesterday we had lunch here at the cuckoo brow.

Ham sandwiches on the nicest bread I have ever eaten.

Chips were to die for and a great pint.

All eaten by a roaring fire while it snowed outside.perfect day .

Thanks to all the staff

User

User

Well.....what a wonderful few days.....THANK YOU Loredam and Michaela for making our stay SO memorable!! We arrived to find our very comfortable and lovely rooms....and my 89 year old father was accommodated last minute in a ground floor room ....thank you ! The food at breakfast and dinner was the best we 've had in the Lake District. . ....We loved the way Loredam came out and spoke with us about our choice of main course.....making changes and customising our dish to our taste ....and the smoked cod loin was DEVINE.....the lamb melt in the mouth.....and the fish and chips as good as it gets !! We were further impressed by the welcome our little Flossie received....a very discerning cockapoo who has already indicated she d come back in the blink of an eye !!!! It was soooooo refreshing to find a dog friendly pub which does not compromise on the quality of it's food and hospitality.......utterly unpretentious.....but fantastic cuisine ! Thank you both ! We 'll be back xxAlison and John

We had supper at the CuckooBrow on 23/6/2018 our first night in The Lakes, the food was delicious and the staff could not be more helpful - after that we went there ever night for supper whilst we were on holiday. We highly recommend the CuckooBrow for their food which was fabulous and the staff were amazing.

User

We had a family gathering here in the stables and it was super! The staff were so accommodating and the food was lovely, the perfect afternoon and we were so grateful for providing us with the perfect space and food to enjoy our time together, thank you

User

We booked up at last minute and spent Friday and Saturday night here.

After a delay for the room(out of the staffs control) we checked in.

The room was excellent And the kids were really impressed with their own little nook with their bunk beds in.

We ate in the restaurant Friday and Saturday night and the food was good quality and reasonably priced. We got a complimentary bottle of wine for the delay to our room, which was nice touch.

The breakfast was good quality food and again, really tasty

The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much bother. They were great with the kids too.

Would highly recommend and will definatly be back.

User

Staff excellent make a real fuss of the dogs which puts the owners at ease especially when you see bar and restaurant staff serving "hoomans" around the sleeping dogs so as not to disturb them helps owners feel less on edge.

When you then factor in great location good nearby beautiful walks and good food fire and fun ambience why wouldn't you stay

User

Once again a fantastic stay at this lovely Inn. It has such a welcoming and homely feel thanks mainly to the staff who go out of their way to include everyone and make you feel special. Of course the visiting dogs are the stars of the show and it’s lovely to find a place where you dine or just have a pint with your canine buddies at the table. This is just a superb place to switch off and unwind, thanks for your hospitality it’s rare to find such genuinely lovely hosts.

User

Myself and my friends were lucky enough to stumble on this wonderful pub today purely by accident.

User

Just had a great lunch here after our visit to Hill Top. Fish and chips, ham, eggs and bubble squeak. Outstanding quality. And the dark local beer is great - looks like Guinness but tastes much better. Very friendly and helpful staff. Child and dog friendly. Thank you for making us welcome.

User

I can't speak any highly of this place. My husband took me for our wedding anniversary and we was made to feel welcome from start to finish. All staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely time and will be returning.

User
