What book are you currently reading?
Culford Prep School Assistant Head, Mr Herd shared with us what book he is reading at the moment:
I have been reading Doddie Weir’s book, which was released after his MND diagnosis. It is definitely giving a perspective amidst recent difficulties and is interspersed with great stories and insight into his playing days around the time of rugby union changing from an amateur to professional game.

This week's movie recommendation is from Mr Jones, Culford Senior School History Teacher:
Anyone who knows me well will know exactly how much this film had an impact on me! You might be forgiven for thinking it’s just a standard “aliens arrive on earth and have to be fought off” kind of movie, but nothing could be further from the truth; if you think this is just Independence Day with a 90 degree angle shift, you are much mistaken. Alien lifeforms do arrive (funnily enough), ...but that’s about it. Even the cover doesn't really help with the first impression; this is not a film people travelling into space.
The film is based on a short story called ‘Story of your Life’, and that title alone explains far more about the film than aliens do. This is a film about so many aspects of life, humanity, language, mathematics, time … and it has a massive question at its core that, if you allow it to, will take you apart piece by piece …
However, if you just like intelligent films that maintain tension without relying on endless action sequences then this might be for you. If you don’t believe me, it was Mark Kermode’s film of the week, it was nominated for 8 Oscars and has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
And in these strange times when anything seems possible, perhaps it’s not a bad idea to get ready for this sort of contingency too. Arrival is, as Kermode suggests in his review, a light in the darkness, reassurance when we need it most.

Don't forget that you can now watch some of the best British theatre from the comfort of your living room, via the 'National Theatre at Home' youtube channel.
It all kicks off tonight at 7pm with James Corden in the hilarious 'One Man, Two Guvnors':
James Corden stars in this hilarious comedy. In 1963 Brighton unemployed musician Francis Henshall becomes separately employed by two men: Roscoe Crabbe, a gangster, and Stanley Stubbers, an upper-class twit. He has to keep them f...rom meeting, to avoid them learning that he is working for both.
However, Roscoe is really Rachel Crabbe in disguise, her twin brother Roscoe having been killed by her boyfriend, who is none other than Stanley...
On top of that, local mobster Charlie the Duck, has arranged his daughter Pauline's engagement to Roscoe despite her preference for amateur actor Alan Dangle.
Further complications are prompted by several letters, a very heavy trunk, some unlucky audience volunteers, an extremely elderly waiter and Francis' pursuit of his twin passions: Dolly (Charlie's feminist bookkeeper), and food and drink.
All you need to do is subscribe to the National Theatre at Home YouTube channel to tune in. Plays are available for 7 days.
