About Culpeper Community Garden
A little oasis for people and wildlife in the midst of the city
Culpeper Community Garden Description
Culpeper Community Garden is a beautiful public open space in the heart of Islington, London, which serves both as a city park and as an environmental community project. Managed by and for local people, it is a unique project where people from all walks of life come together to appreciate and enhance their environment.
A communal effort
The organic garden comprises a lawn, ponds, rose pergolas, ornamental beds, vegetable plots, seating and a wildlife area. It contains 50 plots including 2 raised beds for disabled gardeners: these small gardens are for community groups, children, and for people living nearby who do not have gardens. Tending the garden is a communal effort by garden members and volunteers.

Book club reading session outdoors on a lovely summer day! ☀️😊 London Silent Book Club
We had really good time today at Culpeper, taking part in the London Open Squares weekend. The garden was looking wonderful. Lots of appreciative visitors enjoying tours of the garden, and fantastic homemade cakes made by members and volunteers. We raised £369 from donations and the sale of refreshments. Thank you all those who helped with making cakes, serving, washing up and showing our visitors around.
Our annual Strawberry Tea for older Islington residents is coming up on the 2nd of July. As ever, we need our army of scone makers to feed the masses. if you could pledge to make any scones that would be most appreciated. Perhaps an opportunity to hone your skills? https://www.deliaonline.com/…/mothers-d ay-afte…/plain-scones

It may have been a wet and chilly February day at Culpeper today but there were still signs of spring - snowdrops, hellebores, winter flowering honeysuckle, arum italicum, clematis, mimosa. Good to see a few intrepid members turning up for the workday too!
Look at our wonderful new noticeboard! We are so grateful to super volunteer Ben for his hard work :-))
