Awoke this morning to a freezing sleet...lovely (NOT!!!) I have just had almost a week of downtime due to illness; apologies folk if you couldn't get thru via phone or email, I have been unwell but am fighting back so do try again! Thought I would post this cheerful, happy-summers - day photo to you all, to make you smile. I tried to post some drone footage but it really didn't load well....not sure the post I want to make on Christmas Day WILL post...we'll see! Anyhow, this is Grace on Sol our Shire on a colder day this summer...how sweet! (me, I am, again, back to the Olympia prep.......)

... This Instructional hack is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy our horses around the farm girls and lower Fells of our privately owned farm. All off road. Small groups carefully managed to suit a variety of experience levels e.g. experienced only groups (up to gallop happily) , intermediate (cantering) then beg/ novice. Armistice Day 2018. Our beautiful horses and fantastic team of riders, walkers and helpers all contributed to an excellent parade to honour the fallen in wartime, and naturally for us the emphasis on the animals who also lost their lives. Thank you to everyone, and I hope we helped raise funds for those still here, families of those who fell, rehabilitation..... and please, humans...no more war....

Wow wow wow had an amazing time, Karen and Beth were brilliant with us, great for all levels of riders, Thor, Sol and Major were gentle giants, fantastic morning from start to finish, Thankyou Karen and Beth � see you next time

What an amazing ride!! I was a little apprehensive about riding on the beach, but Annie matched us all up with our horses perfectly!

We were a mixed group, two experienced riders, two novices and me, somewhere between the two.

Whilst riding up the beach we went for a paddle, and played pony club games (yes really)! We might not have ridden as far up the beach as some rides but we had an absolutely fantastic time, lots of fun, lots of laughs and great memories.

Annie is a lovely person who made the ride what is was.

I will definitely return

What an amazing experience. I did the fell ride one day and the beach the next. Both lead by friendly and competent staff. Safety and enjoyment for all involved considered. Lovely horses with some spirit, not trail ponies that just follow each other.

Such a beautiful part of the world and beautiful horses. What's not to like?!

We have just returned from Cumbrian Heavy Horses and have had a wonderful experience riding around the farm, on the fell ride and to top everything off an amazing beach ride. Annie and her staff are so lovely and give you so much encouragement and confidence ! The horses are beautiful, happy and healthy and we can’t wait to go back. Excellent ! Angie and Graham.

We did the beach ride on Sunday. What an amazing time we all had, the horses were absolutely incredible and the scenery was breathtaking.

I was supposed to do it as a one off bucket list experience but we will definitely be coming back!!!

What stood out the most is the love and care for your horses, that shined through the whole time! Not only in your prep of matching rider with horse correctly, but how happy and content all the horses were - it was so good to see! - 5 stars just isn’t enough to award! Lots more needed for this alone!



Annie you and your staff are amazing - all smiling, happy and helpful - something which isn’t that common nowadays - Thank you!

Thank you for such a wonderful morning ride on Boo. I went out on my own (husband non rider waited at the farm) was joined up with Sandra her husband Pete and our guide the marvellous Peter.

He made sure we were properly introduced to our magnificent steeds. After a trot and a practice canter we were off. All of our group ride our own horses regularly but rarely ride other horses so it took a little while to find our seats as they say. But then we were off, horses so impressively sure footed and responsive. Peter pointed out all the landmarks as our ride took us higher and higher. We rode for a couple of hours but regularly go out on longer rides sometimes for days. They are all clearly loved and expertly looked after.

Beginner or rider they can accommodate you. Highly recommended!

Returned home yesterday after being on the ‘Classic ride’ and it was amazing! Got to ride in so many different locations and stay in places I never thought I would have. Had great company and all the staff I met were extremely friendly and always made sure I was comfortable and happy with what we were doing. Horses are in great shape and a pleasure to ride. The weather was absolutely amazing as well - if anything it was a tad too warm for my Scottish self � will definitely be returning �

My husband and I did the 2 hour farm ride last week. We had a great time, thank you for looking after my husband Denis, who was so nervous he nearly didn't come with me! But he enjoyed it so much he's now talking about having lessons so we can do more next time we visit. The horses you chose for us matched perfectly, I wish I could have bought Fred home with me. Lovely people, horses and stunning area to ride. Couldn't recommend it more �

Me and my friend did a lovely farm ride back in April and we were both super nervous about the size of the horse’s, my friend was on miracle and I was on Reggie and both horse’s looked after us super well and never put a foot wrong!. On Wednesday we did a beach gallop me and my friend were once again matched very well to the horse’s my friend was on thour and I was on Eddie the staff are all ever so lovely and friendly and not once did me or my friend feel unsafe or forced to do anything, we loved every single minute of it and we will definitely be back soon.

I did the half day beach ride with 3 friends and had an absolute blast! We were lucky with the weather - blue skies for the first time in ages - which made being on the beach even better. I was lucky enough to ride Sol, a huge black Shire who was very responsive. Annie matched us to horses really well and made sure we were all safe and capable before letting us rip. She also took some super photos and film. I rode here 7 years ago and loved it - just as good the second time around.

I booked my mum and I in for the 2 hour farm ride for her birthday present - I was on Jacob and mum was on Rosie. We had a fabulous ride, just the two of us and Peter. Peter was a great ride leader, made sure we were comfortable with our horses before we trotted/cantered and gave us some great information on the area, along with taking lots of great pictures! Thank you so much for a lovely ride. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Lake District.

Dream of riding on the beach even better being on a shire and sharing it with my best friend! The horses are so well behaved I rode reggie and wanted to bring him home! Johnny was so good! an asset to Cumbrian heavy horses, I really couldn’t ask for anything more and will defo be back!!!

Had a fabulous Fell Ride with my mum for her 50th Birthday. We were joined by another experienced rider and Karen, our ride leader was lovely. She really knew the land, the horses and their personalities and took some great photos � my mum rode Belinda, who was raring to go. I had the pleasure of riding Milly, who was sensitive and responsive. Well worth the trip, I’m going to get saving for a holiday ride!

Fantastic! 4 of us went on a 2 hour farm ride and were mixed ability with all able to ride but different levels of experience and 2 of our party hadn't ridden for some time. The horses stood beautifully for mounting and dismounting. Holly was our instructor and guide round the farm and she was excellent. She was able to assess our ability and comfort throughout whilst telling us lots about the farm, horses and local area. Clearly, she loves and knows the horses well as could tell us a bit more about our steed. Prior to this, I hadn't been on a proper hack for a long time and thought I would get bit 'jittery' (can remember the feeling in my stomach when a horse is stood by a gate waiting for a gallop!) but wasn't really because of Holly's calm and level headed approach. The horses are clearly well loved and looked after. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Amazing ride across the farm, which was kindly arranged at short notice for myself and my boyfriend as a mixed ability ride, as I’m an experienced rider and he is a novice. They matched us with the most perfect horses, Reggie and Sol were really responsive and willing and knew their job! Absolutely loved the whole experience - the girls who took our ride out were lovely too, really chatty and easy to get along with. Hope to return, maybe for a beach ride or for a few days holiday ride!

Annie is a lovely, smiley bubbly character who made us all feel welcome and clearly is very passionate about her horses. All her horses are absolutely beautiful! Staff very helpful and friendly! Hoping to try the classic ride next year!
