Excellent Nepalese restaurant, best Asian in Colchester

The fact that this place doesn't deliver goes to show how much effort they've put into their restaurant. The decor is wonderful to look at, tasteful and not too garish. The food was outstanding! None of this frozen rubbish some cheaper restaurants use. My Peswari naan was freshly cooked and so were my bhajis. You can choose what meat you'd like in your curry, or no meat if you want a vegetarian option. The waiting service was very good as they managed to cater for 15 of us for mum's birthday meal and didn't get any of our orders wrong. There's even great dessert options! This restaurant is ideal for couples, groups and families.

I got a take away from this restaurant simply because it was closest to where I was staying and I have to say I was really pleased and impressed with the food! I ordered a vegetable dopiaza, coconut rice, sag aloo and a peshwari naan (yes I like my food!). I got a free popadum and yogurt dip. The food was delicious. As a vege I always worry that the dish may be a bit sparse, but the dopiaza was packed with veg and had a lovely warm spicy kick to it. The rice was really lovely and the spinach in the sag was plentiful with not a hint of bitterness at all. I'm up from London for the week and glad I chose this restaurant to take out from. The staff were very friendly and I enquired about taking out a beer and he said I could, but it'd be costly as they would charge it at restaurant price and advised against it! I thought that was a really lovely thing to do, as they could have made more money on the order. So I picked some up from the Tesco near by. All in, it came to about £14 which I thought was pretty good as I at least two meals worth of food. Would definitely order from here again!

Not the best tandoori restaurant I have visited. Flaming hot shrimps was medioker spicy only. But good poppadoms and naan bread.

Well priced but not the best Indian food I've had. The restaurant could also do with a face lift.

Pretty good curry house in Colchester fairly close to the town centre, but close to two good pubs. The food is tasty and the service is good with friendly staff.

Have been going there for over 15 years and always loved curry india - however now their prices are way too expensive in comparison to other competitors! have since changed to a different india (sonali, east hill) - food is just as good but half the price

We have been going to the Curry India Tandoori from when it first opened.
Before this it was the Star Café.
We have visited in the last 6 months and found that it has been taken over
by new owners.
Dave welcomed us and told us the latest situation.
The food was great and we will be there again in 2 weeks time.
