Curzon Soho

Great cinema in Soho. Shows a wide selection of films, new blockbusters to smaller independent films. Has a good bar and cafe inside.

Disappointing shadow of a cinema. Attempts to "posh it up" with designer beers and nibbles fall short, and the chaos from a lack of box office ("just pick up your ticket at the end of the 40minute bar queue") are pathetic given the all-too-regular IT 'issues'. The cinemas themselves are small and feel like a small cinema has been chopped into 4 in order to increase yield. This cinema has lost its way: not arty; not west-end; not posh like the "Screen-on..." group. Won't willingly return.

I saw the new Blade Runner here (I don't recommend it). The bars upstairs and downstairs were nice, but I was disappointed once we went into the screen. I'd been to Curzon Victoria before, so I was expecting comfy seats like that, but they were like normal cinema seats. Worse in fact, they were squeaky and they didn't have those drink holders you can put your feet on. The sound was also far too loud. And because the room was quite small, the screen was close to the right wall and a lot of the light reflected off it, which was pretty distracting. Maybe they could paint it a darker black.

A thoughtful selection of films, nice caf with a good selection of cakes. The downstairs bar is pretty laid back. I would visit more often if tickets were less expensive.

They used to have wonderful cakes here. They have good cakes now. The sweeties are generous portions. Delicious coffee. Great atmosphere. One of my favorite places to wattch a movie.

Bit of a hidden gem, once you go downstairs you discover a lovely cafe bar, and the cinemas themselves are excellent. Bonus points for friendly and helpful staff.

They did some refurbishment in about a year or so. It is a quiet good place to meet for a coffee with a choice to watch a movie or to go to china town for a supper.

This used to be the finest cinema in London, however it's programming has become more mainstream over the last few years which is a great shame. The foyer and interiors are lovely, but the screens themselves desperately need a little TLC.

On every level this is the perfect cinema experience.
Ambience: Brilliant - it does not have the 'branded' feel of 'Big Brother' competitors.
Choice: Few cinemas in London now offer such a range of films, which rarely get screened elsewhere - there of course are big hitters - something for everyone.
Comfort: Terrific, with plenty of legroom.
Facilities: For a cinema this could not be better, there are TWO licensed bars, one at street level with a great Soho outlook.
Special Screenings/Events: An abundance INCLUDING Save Curzon Soho events - more later!
Curzon Team: Wonderful, everyone makes you feel so welcome.
Price: Quite reasonable and there are often special offers
