I was having trouble with my bike, I walked in this morning was promptly greeted and my problem was seen to immediately. Staff are exceptionally kind and passionate about cycling.

Great guys, friendly and knowledgeable. A well stocked shop carrying some top brands. They are extremely helpful when dealing with any issues, mechanical or otherwise and offer a comprehensive service including bike maintenance and advice.

Took my beloved mtb in with a cracked frame. Even though it was purchased elsewhere they dealt with the importers and had my rig up and running in no time. Thank you.

Having started a charity cycle ride to Amsterdam from Southend, my old road bike decided to give up and on the day of the ride I needed a new bike.

Having used cycles UK in the past and being the closest bike shop to where my bike fatally broke I thought I would go in and purchase a new one.

On arrival to the shop I Iwas greeted by Kevin whom I can assume was the manager or supervisor for the day. I was in a pretty desperate situation as I needed a new bike and somewhere to temporarily store my old bike for 4 days until I got back.

Prior to making a fairly significant purchase in the shop I asked if they would be happy to temporary store my bike until I got back. Even though I was purchasing a new bike I was told that in no way possible would it be able to store my old bike until I got back. In the meantime other customers getting minor repairs on their bikes would be allowed to leave their bikes with no problems. I later asked if I could store just for the day until my friend drove down to pick it up. He said this was fine however for longer than a day they would charge a storage fee.

As a business owner myself I found the overall experience extremely frustrating. I can certainly understand if the shop was totally full but even if this was the case I would have made an effort to try and come up with a solution. Considering I bought a new bike and was in a desperate situation the shop didn't really help me out. Just happy to take my money and move me on. If it were my shop I would have focused efforts on satisfying customers at the bottom end whom are getting minor repairs to someone like myself whom buys a new bike.

Being busy is a great thing for the shop however making customers happy in the good times makes the bad times easier. I won't be using cycles UK again and will recommend others not to either.

Bike Base in Southend seemed a much friendlier and helpful bike shop.
