In the same way that you should not stare into the sun, it can take just a single tanning session without eye protection for you to be at risk of damaging your vision. Although it is a tanning salon's responsibility to supply all clients with eye protection, it is just as much the tanner's responsibility to use the protection supplied.
The main reason for avoiding protection is a fear of tan lines around the eyes, however the delicate eye area cannot tan, plus the skin is so... fragile it only provides you with 25% of the protection you need to keep your vision safe.

It's important that tanners use the correct products when using a sunbed. Although baby oil and other products containing petroleum and paraffin can be a popular option for tanners, the use of these are detrimental not only to the client but also the equipment.
Lotions containing petroleum and paraffin lead to skin burning more easily, increasing the likelihood of skin damage. These products also damage your sunbed acrylics, firstly by creating a cloudy, streaky look to the b...ed and secondly by causing your acrylic to crack, meaning it must be replaced prematurely.
Professional tanning lotions have been designed to avoid both of these issues.
