About Dacorum Recreation Orchestra

The Orchestra welcomes all-comers: those with little experience of playing with groups, re-starters and beginners.

Dacorum Recreation Orchestra Description

The Orchestra welcomes all-comers: those with little experience of playing with groups, re-starters and beginners. The Orchestra is independent and runs itself informally. Auditions are not required and public concerts are not performed. Most members are grades 3 to 6; many have not taken exams. The repertoire is broadly classical and we often surprise ourselves, and our conductor, with what we achieve.

The orchestra meets on Wednesday evenings from 8. 00 to 9. 30 pm at St John's Church Hall, Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead HP1 1JY. New players are welcome to come for a trial evening with no obligation to stay or pay. Please bring your own music stand. The cost per term is £40. 00 for eleven evenings (twelve for the autumn term) including one sectional rehearsal. Payment by cheque to the treasurer, Brian Pigott, made out to Dacorum Recreation Orchestra (DRO), or preferably by bank transfer – details from Brian.
