I am a resident of Thornton le Dale so I just like to say that I am super pleased that Dalby Bike Barn has set up shop here. I have experienced great friendly service every time. They know their bikes, especially mountain bikes. If you are into MTB or are just starting out. This is the place to go.

Went to visit the new shop in Thornton Dale for bike hire. Fantastic location, excellent customer service, the bikes that we hired were very well maintained and it was one of the nicest bike shops I've ever been to! Definitely recommended!

The staff were very attentive and friendly. Thorough safety checks to the bikes performed before use, and helmets included. Dalby Forest has bike routes to cater for all abilities. I suggest the 'Green Route' for new bikers and parents with smaller children, it is an easy route in great looking North York Moors countryside. I will be very happy to hire bikes from the team at Dalby Bike Barn again.

Fantastic family day out biking. Great bikes for the price. We will be back next year!

Hired some bikes yesterday on our first trip to Dalby Forest, in fact it was the only thing we went to the forest to do. It was a busy day as the sun was out and it was hot, but they still managed to find us a couple of bikes despite is not having a reservation. Initially I was given a full sized adult bike, I tried it out a little but as I'm short I couldn't control it as it was too big. We took it back to the shop and without hesitation gave me a smaller one. This was great not only because it was more comfortable for me, but I also got a refund of £7 because it was a kids bike! The staff helped us adjust the bikes and our helmets which were provided free of charge. I think this is fantastic as safety should always be paramount. We bought a map which was only £1 but for the price of hire maybe this could be incorporated in the price. We attempted to do the blue trail but didn't even get up the hill before we thought oh God we are not cut out for this and decided to do the green trail instead. It's a nice trail to do, we managed to do the long trail and the shorter version in the 1 1/2 hours we hired the bikes for. We even had about 20 minutes to spare when we gave the bikes back but there was only 2 of us and we were peddling quite fast. Would definitely hire bikes from here again, we had no issues whatsoever. We had a lovely afternoon.

Excellent guided "Wild Ride" well tailored to suit the group, revealed some trails you'll never find. Well maintained decent quality hire bikes. No bother with additional charges. Top Stag Do Activity! Will be back. Thanks.

Booked bikes last weekend and we had such a great family day out. Decent hire bikes and really helpful staff! My son can't wait to come back to the forest.

Poorly maintained bikes and terrible customer service.
I ride a lot and whilst on holiday in Whitby decided to hire an Mtb and try out Dalby Forrest trails.
First off, the gears were poorly set up, constantly slipping and unable to select the granny gear. An hour in a spoke snapped, fortunately the bike was still rideable. 15 mins later the chain snapped! I had my multitool so was able to fix this and finish the ride, now unable to select even more gears. (I suspect most people hiring bikes would not have the equipment to fix this and would face a long walk back to the shop).
Despite my ride being ruined by the poorly maintained bike having constant failures, the guy in the bike store demanded I pay 3.50 for a broken chain link before returning my drivers licence. This meant a 20 minute walk to the car and back to get my wallet.
Overall didn't enjoy my ride and really disappointed with the bike and the attitude of the bike shop assistant.
