The Legendary Daleside Friday Night Crowd are coming together on Saturday 1st of June for the first Charity Night of 2019. This evening is to help a local Spennymoor group called 'Singing for the Brain', who provide volunteer meetings in various locations for Dementia sufferers. We would love to buy a new projector and instruments that we could donate to this wonderful group! Tombola and raffle prizes would be gratefully accepted, any old Christmas presents you hint like or want, please contact us on 01389914175 or 07761048567 if you can help. 20+ Singers, Raffle, Bingo and 'Everyone's a Winner Tombola' Free Admission but first come get the best seats, this will be a 120 + full house!!

I try not to put a rant on here(honest!), however this is something that I can't ignore! A very good friend who loves the various signs and notices we have up in the pub, kindly brought a couple of funny ones back from America, and I immediately put them up in the Gents as they were more for the Adult eye and humour! Over the past year I've had a lot of comments about them and I've gone out of my way to photocopy them and give them to those who enjoyed them! This week some lo...w life thieving scum stole one, my annoyance is that my regular customers would not have done this, that is the quality of regulars and friends and the single dishonesty of someone who could have had the courtesy to ask I would have given them one! I wonder where and what their local is like, maybe a den of thieves! Rant over!🤐

Yet another great night for us in the team knockout. After going two nil down we eventually managed a superb 6-2 win both darts and dominoes teams winning 3-1. It was good to see Gary Taylor back to his sparkling best after his late season issues, a tremendous win against Stevie Jones, this seasons Individual Darts Captain Champion, by a mile!! A mention to the Masons team who as always were great competition and good crack, our favourite team I wish we could play them every week, they are what a Monday Night is all about! All round great lads!!

Last League game of the season saw a great night at the Moors Tavern. After a rocky start to the season we were not in the mix, Dominoes second bottom for about six weeks and Darts fifth or sixth for most of the first part of the season. From New Year a resurgence which culminated tonight with the Darts a superb final third place (our last three seasons 2nd, Champions, 3rd) Dominoes since New Year only lost one match and tonight won the League helped by the brilliant Masons A...rms team who hammered our closest contenders, ( our last three seasons Champions, 6th, Champions) We managed joint runners up in the match Shield ( our last 3 seasons, Champions, Champions, JointRunners Up). Still to come the Team Knockout Cup against our fav. Competitors the Masons Arms, bring it on!(Last two Runners Up, Champions.) Andrew Brack joint Runner up Domino Individual A big thank you to our team and our supporters for yet again a great season, and representing the Daleside as nice people would expect and we are as always eternally grateful! Thanks to the teams in the League for you competition and friendship, best of luck next season!

A smashing games night with Coundon Durham Ox lads last night, darts dropped a singles and doubles point, some top four clashing matches the next couple of weeks so it’s getting interesting and proves that it’s a great Darts League! Our Dominoes again won 4-1 to put us joint top, a great post Christmas run has took us from bottom to top in 9 games, well done lads keep it going! Bring on the team Knockout!

A proud day for us here at the Daleside, the public unveiling of Ernie Brooks’ Legendary Gyrocopter! The weather tried hard but didn’t spoil the day for Trevor Brooks, family and his friends who have endeavoured to rebuild and maintain a piece of aviation history! The display was followed by lunch then off to Tees Valley Airport to the hangar where Ernie departed for his ill fated last flight 50 years ago, yesterday! The weather broke and a display on the tarmac was a fitting... end to a brilliant day for Trevor and his son James who took the part of Ernie! The Gyrocopter is now at its permanent future home at the ‘Pioneers of Flight Museum’ in Sunderland. It’s such a pity that local or county councils couldn’t be interested in creating something local as it is a major part of local Spennymoor history, but that as always, is another story, for another day! We’ve watched as Trevor and friends have toiled and worked for today, a big well done and we are so proud of your achievements!

It is our privilege to be part of this memorable event on Sunday 10th March from 11am until 1pm, the unveiling of a part of aviation history and Spennymoor folklore, a rebuilt Gyrocopter created by local inventor and engineer Ernest ‘Ernie’ Brooks. The date is the 50th Anniversary of Ernies tragic last flight, a superb memorial to a very unique celebrity. Please join us here at the Daleside to view the Gyrocopter from 11am prior to a memorial event at Tees Valley Airport where Ernie was appearing in an air show. The Gyrocopter will later that day go on permanent display at The Pioneers of Flight Museum in Sunderland a very fitting and grateful resting place for an amazing machine and to the memory of a great pioneer of flight!

Another away game with a night at the Moors playing against another lovely team who take the spirit of playing in the league rather than getting beat. Darts won 7-0 and a great nights performance from Jimmy Messer also his oustanding scoring in the Captains, Linda on top form with Paul, Chris and Andy completing a great win! Domino Singles won 5-0 again and another great win in the pairs for Charlie and George, overall a superb team performance with great crack again, thanks to Ian and staff and the Moors team see you next season!
