Damascus Chef Description
Drawing on the many threads of Syrian cuisine, Abdullah Alawayed, the Damascus chef, stimulates the senses of vegans and carnivores alike, the gluten lovers and gluten free, the light snackers and the heavy eaters among us with zest, passion and precision.
Hosts roll up, here’s how it happens. .
1. The Damascus Chef sources the freshest ingredients (grown and made at home where possible). They’re all halal and can be organic upon request.
2. Chose the level of elbow grease you want to put in. Leave the kitchen completely in his hands or chose your level of participation, from formal cookery lessons to collaboration, to consultations on specific themes, ingredients, or requirements to tailor your own Middle East themed dinner spread.
3. You’ve got a full sit down dinner for up to 20, a vibrant party spread, an intimate super or a collaborative concoction with help or oversight from yourself.

Cut your pumpkin into 1cm2 squares, place on the stove and glaze with 1kg of brown sugar for every 1.5kg of pumpkin.
🌊Cover in boiling water and boil on highest heat possible, for half an hour.
... 🍋Quarter two lemons and add to your potion along with one large cinnamon stick, bringing it back to the boil until it thickens into a honey-like texture..
Butter a 300g of sheet of puff pastry and spoon your mix onto the pastry with fresh green pistachios and fold the pastry over the mixture.
🔥Bake at 180c for half an hour..

- Not to pay anyone, except ourselves, below the London Living Wage.
- Only to use plastic when its durable and reusable - we use paper and aluminum packaging, or, for more soupy dishes, good quality plastic tupperware.
- To deliver petrol free, by bike or on foot rather than car, whenever we can.
- Only to use organic and halal meat. We've got to be the only way to get anything organic delivered to your door in the area.
- Not to charge any delivery fees for addresses within 700m of our home.

What a lovely and unique experience at The Good Hope Cafe last night! Hosts are very warm, welcoming, and passionate about food and good cuisine :-) I had an amazing time eating delicious dishes and having entertaining conversations with other guests. I loved the sense of community and sharing a nice meal together!

We had a fantastic meal at Damascus Chef at Archibald’s in Catford. Incredible flavours and lovely people serving us! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone in the local area.
The food was incredible - and what an amazing atmosphere! My husband feels that he's missed out so we'll be back next Friday so he can try it too!

I had a wonderful family dinner tonight. So glad my daughter and son in law told us about it. The hostess was so nice and welcoming and so was the chef. The food was so flavorful and tasty. Coming from Puerto Rico, every bite was new to me. Definitely an unforgettable experience!

Get yourself to Damascus (Chef)! Had a lovely meal with family at the Café of Good Hope. The food was excellent and you really get value for money with a range of meze, soup course, fantastic main and pudding with tea. Highly recommended.
