Visited on the 30th December, with family, table of 6, ordered starters, all fine then ordered mains, everones came except mine, the waiter, apologised and told me the chef wasn't happy with the original burger so he wanted to cook it again. The chef then insisted on buying me my next pint for the inconvenience , he even went to the bar and pulled it himself and brought it to the table , very nice gesture plus when the burger came it was delicious. Been there plenty of times before the take over and would definitely go back again with the new people. Brilliant.

User

This is such a huge improvement on the “old” DY. The food is outstanding and the staff are wonderful. A huge talent in the kitchen reflects in the quality of the food. I think that this may be my new favourite place to eat.

User

Really inpressed!!

It was our first visit since reopening and we thought the place was much lighter, warmer and friendlier.

The food was the main highlight! Gone are the greasy chips and you now get fluffy and soft chips

User

Just had a birthday meal for Sam. Lizzie our server was fantastic and made it a Night to remember! Thanks again - super staff - super good!!! We will be back!!

User

Had a lovely meal here this evening for my daughters 14th birthday. Staff were so attentive and the food was fantastic. Thank you so much. Will definitely be returning for another delicious meal. X

User

Great with the kids went for youngest 7th birthday great food great kids menu great service

User

Good service, food and background music. We were celebrating abt 47 years since we both worked at the Damn Yankee in the early 70s with Mike Wiand, Andrew the Chef, Chris Baines, Melanie and John.

User

First time we’ve been back for a long time. The changes that the new owners have made have refreshed the interior. The food was absolutely superb. The head chef, Wayne, is working really hard & the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen is excellent. I’d have no hesitation recommending Damn Yankee, in fact it is now one of my most favourite places in Harrogate.

User

Came in on Saturday and we had a lovely family meal. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the service was great. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. The burgers were the best we have had in along time. The turkey schnitzel burger was amazing and a great festive addition to the menu. Our 3 year old milk intolerant child was catered for very well and thoroughly enjoyed her chicken fingers. Thankyou for a amazing evening. Well done Wayne and all the team at the Damn Yankee we can't wait to visit again soon would highly recommend x

User

Back in the 70s this place was part of the town's youth culture - owned and staffed by some great characters. This week was my first time back at the DY for years and what a great makeover , excellent food and service and and as ever top music :)

User

Good was good service good. No coffee machine broken. A bit more expensive than it should be.

User

Service incredibly slow considering there was about 5 tables in total while we were there. Asked for no mustard and got mustard on my hotdog, bread was so dry, chips had a bit of deep fried soil on them. ‘Mama Doreen’s’ cupcake was super dry like it had been sat there all week. Staff seemed very uninterested and just stood around... would not go back

User

Food was great. Service bordering on poor. Staff friendly enough but uninterested. Got the feeling they really wished they could spend more time at the top chatting with the chef than serving. Layout more airy since revamp but in a time when restaurants are closing all over, I’d be giving your customers 100% not 70%.

User

First time we have been back to DY since it re opened. Our mains were good but the desserts were of poor quality and overpriced at £5.95 each!! We would re visit but just stick to a main.

User

Food was cold and below par!

I’m afraid after hearing the hype on Stray FM I was persuaded to try it taking my In-Laws and family to have a go, the food was worse than below par, my chicken fajitas was barely warm and oily. Came up on a sizzling plate but not sure why has it def wasn’t sizzling ha ha! Stone cold. Two chicken Caesars turned up in a tasteless over cooked pompadom basket? Chicken wasn’t even chopped up, Kids pizza was basically a baguette with tomato purée paste spread on it and melted cheese. Got left , Other meal was chicken nuggets chips that my son wouldn’t eat because under the batter he could see the chicken was ‘yellow’ we tried to explain it was probably the paste for Making the batter stick but to be honest we really have no idea why the chicken was dyed yellow? Other meal was ribs which were mediocre and not the best, two lagers and a gin couple of milkshakes and a Pepsi £112 ! Won’t be back. If it does get better please let me know as I want to support my local restaurants but far too many excellent ones to choose from.

User

Burgers are far to dry not very nice at all over priced if it wasn't dry it would be worth it.

User

Went this evening, to see if it was still as good as before when Mike Wiand had it!! What a let down, should have stayed closed. even in the previous ownership it was pretty close to the original. However this reincarnation has killed the experience totally....My starter cheesy galic bread, was not what i expected a soggy brown bread bun that had been sliced across the top with some cheese in the sliced part and served in a tin ennamel dog bowl, my son's starter checken strips came in a tin billy can £5.75 which was a £1 more than my bread bun. my coffee was warm at best and the root beer was Austrailian!!! On to the Burger the burger was ok could not find the bbq sauce in it the bread bun was a yellow colour inside and tasted awful the chips came in another tin cup thing small and thin final bill for 2 £40.10 over priced for what was served....going back I WILL NOT BE

User

Waited 20mns to be asked for a drink, had to ask for a childs menu, mushrooms were like black smarties!! burnt!! side salad was ....one half of a huge!!! tomatoe "

child was given huge pile of rocket as side salad! food big let down,..no loo paper in ladies toilets!!

then to be told case machine broken asked to run to cash point to get cash to pay!!! payed in cash in the end, and not even offered the change!!! really bad service all round will not be returning 13/05 /18

User

Nothing like the previous Damn Yankee ... tasteless starters and soggy fries with ribs that tasted bland and old. Guessing they were microwaved or boiled and stuck on a griddle for a couple of minutes. Feel sorry for the service staff having to deliver this poor quality food to customers. When we politely voiced our opinion the head/ manager was very uncooperative. Very disappointed and we will not return. This used to be a very enjoyable experience but NOT this time!!
