Despite some rather chilly conditions, colleagues from the countryside and heritage management sectors came together today to learn about how the use of drones can help with our work. Thanks to ATEC 3D Aerial Solutions for providing the training and to the Interreg 2 Seas ICAReS project and National Lottery Heritage Fund for funding the day. #LoveDarentValley

This morning we visited a beautiful stretch of the River Darent to identify projects which could make the river more resilient to future changes in the climate. This was part of our Interreg 2 Seas SCAPE programme of works.

This summer is going to see a very exciting event taking place in Otford, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Field of the Cloth of Gold and Henry VIII's and Catherine of Aragon's visit at the Archbishops Palace on their way to France.
The day will take place on Saturday June 6th on the Palace Field - more details will be coming soon but get the date in your diaries now!
Performers are needed for the day!
... Join the Kemsing Players for readings of the play held in St Bartholomew's, Otford on Friday the 7th and Thursday the 13th in February.

We have enjoyed a couple of bright, crisp days this week. Perfect weather for visiting some of our beautiful sites across the valley.

More opportunities to get involved with the fascinating site of Lullingstone Roman Villa and work closely with the English Heritage team, starting with a volunteer recruitment coffee morning on Monday 10 February - or if interested in working with young people, why not join the education team and help run school sessions?

Some of our heritage volunteers are working hard and keeping dry this week as they continue to sort through the environmental residue from this summer's Lullingstone Villa dig!

Over the last couple of days we welcomed partners from Belgium - Zwin Natuur Park, Provincie West-Vlaanderen, Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij - VMM, Vlaamse Landmaatschappij (VLM) and Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos (ANB) so we could share our approaches to landscape-led solutions to water management as part of our Interreg 2 Seas SCAPE project.
Despite some rather wet conditions (under-statement!) and landscape features that our Belgian friends might not be so familiar with (steep hills!), it was a great opportunity to show off our rather wonderful valley landscape. #LoveDarentValley Kent Downs AONB

Some of the DVLPS team are on the Dutch - Belgian border today looking at approaches to flood and erosion control through natural flood management techniques. This is part of our Interreg 2 Seas #TripleC project and is helping us apply similar techniques in the Upper Darent catchment. #LoveDarentValley National Lottery Heritage Fund
