Dartmoor Railway Description
Scenic Railway operating between Sampford Courtenay and Meldon Station. A lovely way to access the beatutiful Mid Devon countryside. The Old Station Tea Room is located at our Okehampton Station and open throughout the year and the Meldon Buffet Carriage is open throughout the Spring and Summer seasons. Suitable for all ages.

We were gifted a 1920s murder mystery evening. We had a fabulous time. Lots of people in costume. The lady in charge was so kind, efficient and helpful. Food was good and the actors were fun, although there wasn’t really a clue trail and at the denouement it could have been any of them. Still entertaining. It was a very hot evening and the train became unbearably hot so they sensibly gave us desserts on the platform and finished the performance there. Well done Dartmoor railway we loved it.
We had the most exciting, to start we were disappointed it wasn’t the polar express story but they made up for it in fun and festivities, will return next year and can’t wait �
We had an excellent time yesterday, amazing staff that keep children entertained throughout the train journey, all very well done best Xmas train so far

We came yesterday to the 5.00 slot and had an amazing time. The boys and adults thoroughly enjoyed every part of the experience. The cast were attentive and made it. We couldn’t ask for a better to start our Christmas x
We came yesterday at 7:30pm and was in carriage b with Chico and his team, Well what can I say the girls and us had a fantastic time meeting all difference characters out of the book, but most of all they where so please to met Santa 100% well worth going ����
We came for the 7.30 pm slot. And was in carriage B. With Chico, Charlene and Chaznae. And they made it a truly fabulous experience!! Even my Grinch of a Other half enjoyed it!! And that is amazing!! I haven’t laughed so much in a very long time!! My son n daughter had loads of fun! I’d definitely come back if it’s like that every year! Well done to all who organise. And well done to the ones dancing and making it all an amazing experience. It can’t be easy!!

We attended the murder mystery evening last night and we had such a brilliant time! The food was wonderful, especially the pudding, the service was excellent and the entertainment was fantastic. Thank you for making our evening so much fun.
We all had a wonderful time on The Train to Christmas Town. Staff were all great fun, lovely hothocklate and cookie. Santa was fabulous. Definately a 5 star trip!

Very good lovely trip up on the train and walk back if you had a bit more funding you could really do something at the maiden end like a kids play park along with a big Santa's village at Christmas time also with keep in with the history of the line ás well .
The whole family enjoyed our day out meeting santa yesterday. Would highly recommend. Entertainment on the train was second to none and the interaction with each child was fabulous. Hot chocolate and cookies on the way just made it that extra but special. Will definitely be returning next year. Amazing experience!!
Popped into the station cafe today for a nice cup of tea and a cake after a stroll along the old railway line to meldon. Even the dog had a bowl of water. Just sat and watched the world go by. Really pleasant staff. (Didn’t see the station cat though!!)
My Husband n I have have absolutely fantastic time there, the View n weather was Amazing + long walk = very Lucky. Pls keep it Up n keep Going���
Loved it. Took 5 grandchildren, daughter and son in law and the adults enjoyed it just as much as the children. Just a couple of criticisms, clean the train windows so we get a better view of Christmas town, and reduce the price of the merchandise, extremely expensive, would of bought a lot more but not at those prices but didn't spoil the event. Would still definitely go again and recommend to anyone.
Fan-bloomin-tastic. It was the real thing. Superb attention to detail. Great cast. The children's' faces were a picture.

After booking my parents onto the Cream Tea train and waving them off. I received a call from a very happy Dad, he was over the moon with the trip. He could not praise the staff enough, they were courteous , friendly and welcoming. The food was great and a very generous serving on the scones front. Overall; extremely pleased parents. Thank you so much Dartmoor Railway. Keep up the great work.!
