Very friendly, very big, very clean. Work being carried out on improving the grounds but wouldn't expect anything less with such a big hotel. Very impressed with the little things, fresh fruit provided after swimming, everything you need in your room, staff very helpful and polite couldn't be nicer. Two children with us and they loved every minute of it too. Muffins and colouring packs on arrival, them being excited wasn't a problem and we all felt very comfortable during our stay. Would definitely return and would recommend for family use.

Birthday break for my wife. Excellent hotel. From start to end the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. 1705 manager was brilliant. Went above and beyond and made our stay that little more special. Room was amazing. Very large, comfortable and clean. Even breakfast in bed room was delicious. Well worth a return trip with the family :)

Thank you De Vere :)

We arrived at 2.30pm on Sunday for an afternoon tea that had been booked as a present from our son.

On arriving at the bar we advised we had an afternoon tea booking. We were immediately welcomed and given a glass of Prosecco and taken to a table laid for six people. I queried this as it was just the two of us. The bar maid/manager? checked my booking that I had with me and realised she had made an error but was very gracious about it. The surplus crockery was removed and we went on to have an excellent afternoon tea. There was so much food we had to ask for a 'doggy bag to take the surplus home. We enjoyed a very relaxed couple of hours enjoying copious cups of tea. The only niggle was the young girl who couldn't understand English (she herself said she couldnt speak English). We gave up trying to make her understand that we wanted another pot of tea.

Overall a lovely afternoon, a delicious afternoon tea and pleasant staff.

Nice hotel, great location for visiting Windsor and Lego Land. Staff are very friendly and great with children ( 6 year old) the hotel is very clean, is nicely decorated and has a nice feel to it even though they were holding a couple of coventions mid week and the hotel was full. Our family room in the green annex had been recently refurbished and was very nice. Grandad stayed in the main hotel ( the White House), very nice room but double glazing needs some attention., You need a map to find your way around but once you know where you are going it’s great. We ate in the 1705 restaurant ( not the buffet one). It’s was excellent, staff were really nice and it was child friendly even though is was a refined restaurant - best of everything - food was good. Really enjoyed our stay.

User

Impressive buildings and really nicely furnished rooms. Unfortunately on arriving after a 14 hour drive, we were told the reservation by booking. com hadn't come through. It took the friendly staff about an hour to get things sorted. Meanwhile in the restaurant we had the best chips of our lives. The room was lovely and so was breakfast the next morning.

User

An old school now refurbished with a modern extension. We were in the modern wing and the room was small but well decorated with standard amenities (no minibar or room service which is quite unusual for a four star). All public areas were well designed and decorated except the walls of the pool - but we wonder if it’s in the middle of redevelopment as changing areas were smart and gym good. Close to Lego land, but also handy stop off for Heathrow avoiding overpriced airport hotels.

Four star rating reflects whilst cheap, the night I stayed there was no full service restaurant available, only a buffet or a crowded bar full of families, the pool situation and only instant coffee in the room (plus no biscuits!) If you get a good price (we paid £60 incl breakfast) an excellent choice but I would have been miffed if we had paid £20+ more as food really didn’t reflect normal 3 star let alone 4 standard.

We’ve stayed here several times whilst our daughter has been at Royal Holloway. It has always served us well. We know to expect some aircraft noise and it’s a big hotel so lots of people on the move and maintenance in the grounds. The rooms are clean and functional - it does the job. However on this occasion the continual banging of one fire door which must have a broken closure arm has driven us to distraction. When leaving a hotel you should feel rested and relaxed. I have a banging head and feel shattered. Based on this stay I wouldn’t recommend although to be fair we have returned many times. What a shame

User

Second stay here, first time poor communication as the waiter did not really have that good a grasp on English , this time I was told I was staying in the newly refurbished area only to find a huge stain in the middle of the carpet and the bed tended to separate in the middle forming a gap that was not comfortable to sleep on . Breakfast was stale and cold for the most part , if you are going to do buffet make sure you replace food after a certain amount of standing time, this is something even Burger bars do !!! On the plus side staff were friendly , free car parking always a plus and nice surroundings, it feels like it should be better but comes across as a sort of motel !!!

I booked this for my husband's birthday. I rang prior to arrange for a cake, to be told tgey don't do cakes. I could take my own and they'd bring it out, so I didn't bother.

The room we had was really small, but for one night ok. However, when we got to bed, the bed so poor we kept rolling into the middle of the bed. There was a air conditioning unit right outside our room which kept us awake all night, not that we could sleep anyway, because of the bed. We were woken at 5.00am by staff dragging furniture inside, from a wedding the previous day. Then to top it offer went to breakfast, which to say the least was a shambles. No plates, cutlery, food or staff. When we paid the bill and checked out we told the receptionist, who took £16 off the bill for 2 drinks we'd had. Not impressed. I know the hotel was very busy, but the management should have extra staff to assist.

Huge place easy parking, disabled. The room clean, ground floor disabled room, lovely wet room. Well where to start. Check in was ok. Informative. Put in a junior suite when we booked a suite. This was sorted after being told they had no suites the reception miraculously found one. Went to the bar, asked for a cocktail menu to be told they dont do cocktails.. ...theres a video of the member of staff who told us you don't do cocktails making cocktails.. ...service in the restaurant is appalling. We had high expectations about this hotel after seeing the lovely photos on the website - it generally seemed like a 5* hotel, and perhaps in some places it is but certainly not where we stayed. Half of it is a beautiful, lovingly restored old school with chapel and stunning grounds, the rest feels like a conference centre or even halls of residence with narrow corridors. Our room appeared to have at least been modernised recently but it was still quite basic, only 2 glasses for a family room for 4, no hairdryer, shower cap or other usual amenities you would expect.

We stayed overnight on 31st March birthday for my son’s 6th birthday - the hotel was heaving due to a large wedding, we faced a long queue at reception to check-in and had to park miles away before we could find a space. It really is a vast hotel.

We had asked the hotel in advance if there was anything we could possibly do to mark my son’s birthday as he was so looking forward to it and it was a real treat to be staying as part of our trip to Legoland. I was assured absolutely they would love to make the occasion extra special and there would be something waiting for him in our room when we arrived which was a lovely gesture and would have made his day - it wasn’t. A call down to reception later to politely ask (and also request more glasses) also resulted in nothing.

For dinner we were advised to use the family buffet restaurant - £59 for 4 and it felt like a dining hall with tables crammed in so close together. The waitress tried to seat us literally on top of another family and right next to all the hot food until we asked to move down to the quieter end that had loads of tables free. Food was as expected for a buffet but not amazing. No doubt just a coincidence and most likely a bug but my 8 year old has been vomiting since 10am this morning so our trip to Legoland was abandoned!

We used the pool and it was fine but also looking tired and in need of a refresh - half the lockers in the ladies’ changing room don’t work.

Unfortunately there was also a fire alarm around 9pm just as our kids had fallen asleep, obviously can’t be helped but no explanation or staff around to provide assistance.

All in all a disappointing stay and we won’t be back

User

The hotel in general is impressive when you arrive, the general ambiance and decor is lovely and the grounds beautiful BUT.....

It was a VERY long walk to our room, my husband walks on crutches so it was left to me and my two young sons to struggle with bags and cases with no offer of help. Our sofa bed was completely broken, I trudged all the way back to reception to ask for it to be repaired while we ate dinner. When we returned to the room they had put two new pop up beds in the room which were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever seen. Neither of our boys slept all night. The following morning while getting out of the prison bed, youngest son cut his toe open quite badly on the side of the bed which had very sharp metal edges. I trudged back down to reception to ask for a plaster and a replacement bed (the beds were then replaced with very similar beds but marginally more comfortable)

On our second night the lift to our room did not work so my husband had to use the stairs which wasn't easy at all. We decided to order room service however the hotel only provide a grab and go type service so we had to walk to the restaurant to order, go back 30 minutes later to collect the food. Again there was no offer of help at all so my husband now had to struggle to carry a tray back to our room (they were far to heavy for the boys and I couldn't carry two) via the stairs.

I could go on with the negatives which is a shame as this hotel could be something really special.

Below is the feedback we have gave to legoland due to our disappointing experience in your hotel staying 2/04/2018 or 2 nights

We had very good interaction with the hotel when we made our initial feedback but when we moved house and got back to them a month later we seem to have been swept under the carpet, very unprofessional and would like someone to get back to me you have my details. Charlotte Ayling, Hannah Spencer, Cerys Hughes are all the names that have been involved but have since ignored all emails

The welcome to the hotel was good, good service polite staff first impressions very good.

Once in the room we had not received the activity pack and gift bag advertised also there was not a safe in our room (434) we did bring this up with someone at the desk but we were told that the hotel had ran out of gift bags (should have been told on arrival) and that she would look into a safe being placed into the room but I do not believe anything had been passed on.

Our first night we decided to have dinner in the buffet section as we had a busy day travelling and in LEGOLAND.

the buffet option was £20 per adult and £6.95 for my son, the options on the buffet did not reflect this price. Turkey stroganoff which did not resemble any stroganoff i have ever ate in my life it was more a light tomato base that had never even glanced at mustard, the braised chicken curry the chicken was extremely over cooked and there was a seafood option with mackerel which was on the starters too. the childrens had chicken nuggets, cod bites or bolognese ( not pasta to serve with or garlic bread ??) the only carb option were rice or potato wedges. after my partner paid £20 or chicken nuggets and potato wedges we decided to try dessert to have some still frozen strawberry cheesecake! was this worth £46.95 definitely not.

our second night had we not wanted to eat at the hotel due to the previous nights experience but due to a full day in legoland and trying out the pool we decided to give the call and collect option a try as the menu looked far better than what was served in the buffet. my partner had a steak sandwich which she enjoyed and my son had a pizza £11.95 or £12.95 as there was not a kids option on the menu we looked at online as there was not a menu left in the room. My Spaghetti arabiatta on the other hand and was a disappointment. pasta under cooked and meatballs overcooked the sauce although advertised as a "spicy tomato sauce" again very bland and not a chilli or pepper in sight.

During our stay we witnessed several other complaints but working with customers myself i have held of until now to bring it up.

majority of staff very pleasant but in need of some training and kitchen needs to try the food before sent out

I look forward to your reply

Kind Regards

very dissapointed booked double room ended up with a stuffy tiny twin room, very ignorant girl on reception desk obviously blind to people in a que waiting to check in and approached a wedding guest member who just walked straight to the front to see to him first, i had to cancel 1 room and because i wasnt able to have either full or partial refund i was told i could have a upgrade to mine but hotel was full so nothing offered but in my eyes a down graded room,3.30am fire alarms went off everone left the building stood outside not 1 member of staff came to check either our part of building nor did anyone come to let people know what was happening....disgusting !

nothing at all like the brocure pics, would not use again

User

Very disappointing. We upgraded to superior room. Lovely big comfy bed, but that’s where the goods finish. No room to move, just struggled round the bed. Bathroom was small and pokie, obviously at the expense of the big bed. Tea and coffee facilities provided, but no where to plug the kettle in. Broken fan in room, had to ask three times before it was changed. Service slow in all restaurants. No information for guests provided, just a map on checkin. Won’t becoming back or indeed using any other De Vere hotel.

User

No double rooms on check in so was forced to either have a tiny single room or pay £80 extra to upgrade to a ‘better deluxe room’. When showing the check in staff that the room they were trying to upgrade me too was only an extra £25 online and that double rooms were still available to book they ‘generously’ discounted the upgrade to £60. Really, 3x more for an upgrade that should have been complimentary due to overbooking? My ‘deluxe’ room as anything but; toilet roll holder had fallen off and was on the floor, stained curtains and duvet cover and half used toiletries in the bathroom. I was unlucky enough to have a view over a conference that didn’t wind down until 1:00am which nobody made me aware of. Breakfast was chaotic with no one showing you to a table so every-time you went to go and get something from the buffet you’d come back to find a lodger at your table. No drinks voucher that I booked either. Promised a response within 24 hours as they were too busy to hear my feedback at the time but this hasn’t happened. Won’t be back.

User

I am really disappointed with a recent business stay at Devere Beaumont Estate after having a health & safety nightmare with a bed catch being broken and handing out on the floor like a blade!! I cut my bare toe on it (good job this wasn't a child's foot). I didn't have a plaster on me so tried to phone reception several times (the phone in the room was very unhelpful because nothing was labelled but I tried calling 0), I wrapped my toe in tissue, put my trainers on and walked the 10min walk to reception. I managed to get some plasters and another room a few doors down but had to move my luggage (and the fan from the previous room as this one didn't have one). Furthermore, in the morning, i found the hairdryer was broken and had to wait around 20 mins to get another one. There was a ridiculous queue for breakfast so I got asked if I wanted to go to the other restaurant, the second restaurant only had 1 chef and an a la carte menu, needing a quick breakfast I decided I'd have no choice but to go continental - sadly the queue for the toaster was too long so I had to settle for cole, slightly stale bread. I was really excited to stay at this hotel after great reviews from colleagues but I have come away really unhappy.

Very disappointing. We upgraded to superior room. Lovely big comfy bed, but that’s where the goods finish. No room to move, just struggled round the bed. Bathroom was small and pokie, obviously at the expense of the big bed. Tea and coffee facilities provided, but no where to plug the kettle in. Broken fan in room, had to ask three times before it was changed. Service slow in all restaurants. No information for guests provided, just a map on checkin. Won’t becoming back or indeed using any other De Vere hotel.
