Did you know Horsley Towers was once home to Lord Byron's daughter, Ada Lovelace? She lived here with her husband, the 1st Earl of Lovelace in the mid 19th Century.

The service is out standing, staff and manager very polite. Food just fantastic no negative side on this at all.. we are too impressed of the hotel, service and staff now we are planning to book a conference meeting room for our next event.

A beautiful venue with gorgeous rooms. Would highly recommend .

User

Wonderful setting. Great position, Rooms a bit small but the service and staff were excellent. The cooked breakfast despite it being self service is one of the best I have had. All good.

User

We stayed in the court rooms which are lovely, the grounds are beautiful and food is good. Hayley in the restaurant is lovely and so is Sam at reception they made our stay that bit more special - would definitely recommend as a quick getaway not far from London

Stayed with family for new years eve this year.

The downside for my family is not being told that the travel cot requested didnt come with a mattress. This wasnt mentioned when requested upon booking, if it was we would have brought our own travel cot with the mattress as our daughter struggled to settle on the makeshift mattress of duvets and towels (not ideal) but the only option we had given to us. Suggestion would be just to make ppl aware of this when requesting a cot as its the difference between a restful and stressful night for the parents.

Food carvery was nice and breakfast was nice with plenty of options for both, staff were pleasant and polite in interacting with our little one at the table.

Stayed here for son's wedding on 15th April. Stayed in room 201 which was large. Bed good. Could have done with a small fridge and water but these are just suggestions. Loved having coffee tea etc on tap. Staff extremely helpful. Most of the wedding guests stayed one or two nights and first night was in the Reception Area where most of the rooms and beds were rather small. These guests transferred to The Towers for the second night which were much better. Had to be arranged like this as another wedding was on the 14th. Understand the transfer was dealt with well. Only fly in the ointment was the cost of drinks which are ridiculous. £11 for a large glass of wine! Other drinks were also expensive. We had a bar meal Friday night whicb was good and breakfast was also very good. Apart from the price of drinks overall a lovely venue for the wedding.

User

Lovely breakfast lots of variety. Ladies at the main reception are very welcoming and very nice. Bed was very comfortable. Only con for me was that some of their wait staff need to be retrained in customer services. They would take our posted away without saying anything. They would reach over whilst we're in conversation grab the posted without asking whether we'd finished or were going for seconds. The people at the bar are lovely though

From check in to departure, it was a bliss. The staffs were lovely, polite and easy to talk to. When i didn't like the room I was in, I was moved immediately.

The food was a bit dry, asked the chef why there was no gravy but he just said "no gravy" but delicious all the same. There were large groups using the venue so food was gone quickly especially on Saturday. I had to wait for 30 minutes for the chef to finish cooking another bash. I believe, knowing the number of people who checked in, a better plan should have been in place.

The view was great, and also a walking distance to the train station.

The only disappointing thing was, because it was a group booking when I was negotiating the price and booking I was assured that we will all be in the same place. But unfortunately, we were all scattered everywhere. I did complain about this at check in and was told that information was not passed on to them. However, the staffs were happy to rearrange and move us all but the new arrangement was not good enough. Therefore, we all decided to stay where we were.

We were also assured there will be unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits in our conference room but there were none provided. We had to come out of the conference room to make tea/coffee. And there was not a single biscuit on site the whole weekend.

The walls were paper thin, even though I was the only one on my wing (executive room), I could hear people from 5/6 doors down.

May I add that I have been to different De Vere venues for retreats but Horsley Park staffs were the most helpful and polite. So, well done for that.

Booked 1 night B&B room was small but had everything you needed, found the coffee ect: in the wardrobe which I found strange. we had a meal in the bar which was very nice & the breakfast was very good giving you lots of choice, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. overall our stay was very pleasant.

Considering the Conference Centre is a fairly recent development a few things really surprised me:

If you can find the entrance to Horsely Park you're winning! I drove past twice before actually getting in...When I spoke to one of the receptionists about the lack of signage, her response was, "WI know, we got told this on a daily basis."

To which my response was, "Well why don't the management do something about it?" - No answer was forthcoming.

Then there's a security barrier which stops one driving further on. The intercom system on this barrier makes ordering "take away" at Macdonalds seem to have more clarity than one would ever imagine!

In the end I had to get out of the car and speak right into the receiver because the young woman said she couldn't hear a thing...I couldn't hear her either (Please note here I'm not a mumbler....I've taught Drama and worked on radio ;-) )

Do NOT under any circumstances use the women's lavatories by the Conference Centre bar. They have 'fragrance' of the worst urine riddled underpass and public lavatory combined.

Other than the above the venue is pleasant and provides all one would expect.

Arrived on a Saturday night to be told that a buffet restaurant option or limited bar menu was available. Eventually got a table in the restaurant to be rewarded with a very poor buffet - good choices available, but well past their best at around 8.30pm. Also staff were very pleasant, but not enough around in the restaurant and no one managing them - I asked a waiter if they were busier than normal, but was told that this was a normal busy Saturday (so why were they not better prepared?).

Our "deluxe" room was in the old court yard - not the Towers in the picture (and well worth a photo). A Premier Inn room would be more deluxe and well under the discounted £105.40 B&B rate paid.

After midnight we could hear the doors outside our room regularly slamming and guests talking, as they exited for a smoke or went to their rooms, so not a good night's sleep - especially as we could also then hear the guests moving around on the creaking floor above our room.

Breakfast was ok, but not a great selection of hot food for a veggie or pescetarian and not particularly hot...

We didn't complain on checking out, as we were not asked about our stay and have no intention of staying at a De Vere hotel ever again, as this was a truly underwhelming experience.

All in all they need to look after their pleasant staff and manage them properly, then either improve the buffet (the broccoli was inedible), or offer an a la carte menu on a Saturday - some guests did have an a la carte option, so this was either a special deal, or they were wedding guests.

This hotel, and therefore by default the De Vere Group, use photos of a different complex to mislead you into booking a room in this hotel! We waited for45 minutes at Reception only to be told we were in the wrong place and should have been in the Management Centre not The Towers! Couldn't check in until 3 so decided to use the facilities to unwind...wrong! I was disgusted at the state of the pool and surrounding area as it was dirty and tired! I know De Vere have just taken over but you cannot polish a t**d. We were then informed that the Restaurant was not open but there was a bar menu available which turned out to be a choice of a bacon chop or squid pasta, take it or leave it. Room was tiny and bath was little more than a foot bath. Bar is just a joke as we had to change drinks twice due to it tasting off. Just as well there is a decent pub two minutes up the road to help you unwind and the staff are obviously well rehearsed at consoling people who get conned by this hotel as they have heard it all a hundred times or more! Don't bother complaint to Reveption as they suddenly turn deaf, dumb and lose command of the little English they hold! Avoid this hotel at all costs!!'

The hotel looked great on the web. but in reality that's not where you stay. You stay in a modern built area, there are many pictures of the old manor house adorning the walls in the modern part, this to me, just reminded me constantly of what I thought we had booked to stay in!!

We booked for dinner bed and breakfast and were casually told that the restaurant was not open but could have a meal in the bar area. We opted to go out to a local restaurant.

We were not informed of breakfast times for the following morning. So we needed to locate a member of staff to ask them. This should have been made clear at check-in.

Our room looked out towards the restaurant and also a pathway used by other guests but we did not have a blind or net curtain and had to leave a heavy curtain closed and this made the room not only dark but also very hot as we could not get any fresh air into the room.

This, I feel, is a basic need for privacy and surely could be easily fixed.

On checking out the member of staff just took the key with no regard to how my stay was.

Not happy and will not be returning any time soon.

AVOID.
