What an lovely experience staying here, we had a fabulous package deal including afternoon tea, 3 course evening meal and breakfast, everything was just lovely, every member of staff was extremely professional and polite, the grounds are really well kept and its a fab experience taking a walk around them, our room was spotless and very well equipped with the little things that you always want to take but can't be bothered like hair dryer and an iron, food and service in the restaurant was excellent, such a regal environment to be in, absolutely no complaints from us at all... Can't comment on the pool and leisure side as we didn't use it this time but would certainly give it a go next time, again a big thank you to all the staff that seem to make such a huge place seem to run so effortlessly, we'll certainly be back again.

We stayed here last Saturday. We wanted something that was special as it was our 10yr anniversary together. Reception staff where lovely On check in and congratulated us. Our room which was a junior room was a nice size, clean and a massive bed, which was in the main building. We had a walk round the grounds where you could see the whole house and get some fantastic pictures. We would recommend the afternoon tea, the scones where still warm and so soft. We tried the main restaurant even know there was a problem with my meal (I'm fussy) you couldn't fault the staff for sorting out, which was done very quickly. Such a variety of things on offer for breakfast. This stay with you will be one I will always remember as my boyfriend proposed to me and of course I said yes. Thank you for a lovely stay.

User

We stayed here for 2 nights after our wedding and it was absolutely perfect!

such a beautiful place, the food in the dining room was fantastic and we made good use of room service which was also amazing I can highly recommend this place and it’s perfect for a shopping trip into Bristol too.we will one day return that’s for sure

We have just returned from a wonderful night away at Tortworth Court. It was fantastic from start to finish. Beautiful drive to get to the house ‘castle as my daughter called it’. The building is absolutely stunning both on the outside and inside. We originally booked a superior room, however decided to upgrade to a junior suite so we were in the actual house.

Well what can we say.... It was stunning with everything you could need in a room. We were right at the front of the house, in the room in front of the flag, our 2 year old felt like a princess sleeping in a castle as she kept saying. I have to say this was all down to Steve the concierge who greeted us on a arrival, was very friendly, took our bags to our room, then moved our bags again for us! He was absolutely fantastic with our little girl and really made her stay extra special with ‘Vincent’. So a huge thank you to him! The grounds were lovely to walk around, the afternoon tea delicious in the atrium, the evening meal was great and the breakfast was fantastic with everything to choose from. Thank the again to all the staff! We will definitely be visiting again!

User

This is the second time that we've stayed here and once again we had a fantastic time . My husband booked us in and the lady on reception noticed I was walking with a crutch and straight away upgraded our room to give me easier access. ....how amazingly attentive and thoughtful. ..! The food in the atrium bar was delicious again as was the sumptuous breakfast. All the staff at Tortworth are friendly and polite and staying here is the closest I'll ever get to living in a stately home ! Now I'm part of the applause club I hope we will be coming here even more often....I really wouldn't want to stay any where else.

User

Stayed at the hotel with my sister over the last couple days. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The food was delicious including the full English breakfast and the staff were always polite and cheerful. Sadly we didn't get the name of the lady behind reception (she wore glasses and was blonde with a middle part and hair in a pony tail) - we spoke to her almost every time we spoke to reception and was lovely and ever so helpful. The only issue we had was that the room was incredibly warm and the radiator definitely wasn't on - the rest of the stay was so good that this didn't really bother us too much xx

My husband and myself stayed at the De Vere Torthworth Saturday evening for my birthday. My husband had booked a superior double room for our stay. Whilst at check the receptionist was very friendly and upgraded us to one of the main building rooms, to a junior suite. It was exceptionally nice and spacious. The decor was excellent with a great bathroom and good shower. The hotel was beautiful!! Absolutely stunning. We had drinks at the bar which was a another eye catching room that looked out to the beautiful gardens. We sat in the gardens and terrace with a cocktail taking in the beautiful scenery. We ate in the atrium, how stunning the atrium is may I add! The food was very good inclusive of the main course and desert. The bed was very large and also really comfortable in our room. We went for a swim in the swimming pool. We had breakfast in the atrium, it was very good! I went for a walk around grounds of the hotel taking many beautiful pictures and appreciating the stunning views! It is a beautiful hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and stay at Tortworth. The only tiny issue we had was the weather was fabulous but very hot, we had a Dyson fan in our room which was excellent but found the room to still be very very hot. The corridors outside of our room was cooler but the room itself even with the fan constantly on was very hot! The windows can open but they are on a security catch which limits the windows to only open a very small amount. We will definitely be staying at the Torthworth again it was beautiful and stunning!!

My husband and I spent an amazing 2 days at the hotel to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with 50 friends and loved ones.

From booking the event the stuff have been fantastic keeping me updated and nothing was two much trouble.

Made all the more perfect on arrival at the hotel to be told we had been upgraded to a deluxe suite.

We have stayed at Tortworth many times and will definitely be back.

I can’t recommend highly enough.

Thank you thank you thank you!

I stayed at your hotel at the end of February with my sister and best friend. From the moment we parked on the car park and walked towards the hotel, we were in love with the place. The formal gardens are lovely. The reception staff were really friendly and welcoming. We all had a double room each which were very comfortable & clean. We spent a few hours in the pool which was lovely. Our evening meal was lovely, the waiters were great. The following morning the breakfast was fabulous ! After breakfast we took a walk around the gardens and the only negative point I would make was that we were disappointed we couldn’t walk down to the lake. As the lake is mentioned on your website, we would have loved to walk down through the woods to see it. I would happily recommend your hotel, and hopefully we want to return in the summer.

User

Amazing hotel,so much space to wander, beautiful grounds. Staff were excellent and friendly. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout. It is the kind of hotel that makes you want to explore, and you felt right at home. There is spa facilities, though I didnt use them. The hotel has a fabulous history, and books everywhere. They have managed to recreate the old and made it look like the new contemporary, reviving many of the features of the original house, like the clock tower that I believe would have been the original stables. Plenty of space to sit outside in comfort and watch the world go by. I was up early the sun was coming out and the birds were just finishing morning song, and that combination of being immersed in a valley of country side was so peaceful. I had a look through the Orangery windows and what I could see of it was very well restored.

User

We booked the Kipling Suite to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. The room was lovely and two Dyson fans had been provided to counteract the heat. We enjoyed a swim, then went to the bar for a delicious bottle of red wine, which we enjoyed in the gardens. We returned to our suite to order room service - the most delicious burgers I have ever tasted. My only complaint would be that a member of staff came to our room for us to sign the receipt for our order before they would order it - despite us authorising our credit card at check in??? Bizarre!! Still it’s a beautiful room in a lovely venue. We will definitely be back.

My Daughter and I had an overnight stay on Sunday as a much needed treat ( a Mother’s Day treat).

Booked by her Husband for us a Spa break.

We arrived at the Hotel and as everyone says in reviews very impressed with the drive approach, when you see the building it is amazing.

Loved the welcome at the door very friendly Gentleman

Reception staff were very friendly and informative.

We had a drink in the bar ( beautiful space) the young lady who attended us was so lovely sorry didn’t catch name)Ordered a Ham sandwich, this was rather disappointing, £7.00 for ordinary white bread and cheap ham! we planned our day and made full use of the Gym/pool facilities.

We both had a treatment. Please thank the young lady Rhianna, she was brilliant, did my facial and my Daughters exfoliation.

We then booked in our room where our bags had already been taken up for us.

Lovely room (121) we were happy with it.

Rather a long walk to Reception but didn’t bother us.

Dinner was served in a lovely room.

3 course - Meal was fine, not spectacular as we thought it might be but ok.

If anything felt a little rushed.

Breakfast in the same room was lovely. Everything you would want.

Like the later 11.00am check out.

All in all a lovely much needed break. Would definitely visit again.

You do have my email and would appreciate you sending me any offers etc Spa breaks in the future.

Many thanks

Me and my wife booked in for the one night just to escape and relax, the building and gardens are fantastic, and out evening meal was on point, the only reason I gave a 4* is because the spa facilities were the poorest I've ever seen, the steam room smelled as though someone had utinated in there (we couldn't even use it it was that bad) the sauna was average, the jacuzzi was on timer so the 15 odd minute wait for the bubbles to start killed the experience and the pools chlorine level was way to high, this was a huge dissapointment for us as we wanted to experience the spa as advertised to be relaxing... Staff were not responsive to any of the spa issues raised and did nothing to make up for loss of enjoyment or to put things right, shame as this has out me off returning to what should have been the perfect escape.

I hope someone actually reads the review and takes positive actions in trying to intice a return Visit

Lovely place to go. Scenery beautiful. Enjoyed my stays here but this time as a little disappointed. Room was very standard this time, didn’t appreciate the plastic shower curtain! And not the best of showers! compared to how lovely this place is and others rooms Ive stayed in before. This time the Robbie Williams tribute night was a little disappointing plus the lay out of the function was rubbish as tribute act and dj & (dance floor) was not on the stage area. So unable to see the act well. Spa needed a good clean and tidy and A little bit more organized. Saying all of that I will be coming again as this place is lovely and so were the staff.

User

The grounds and setting are gorgeous. The food is also exceptional. The spa was really disappointing, not well kept and no conditioner or body lotion anywhere. The massage was really rubbish with no discussion about pressure preferences or if I like the scent of the product and the doors were slamming constantly. At the end of the massage I was wiped over with some freezing menthol type lotion.. To make sure that there was absolutely zero chance that I was leaving relaxed? I left stressed about the fact that I should have been feeling relaxed. If I was basing the review on the massage alone would have been zero. My partner who also had a massage was asked about pressure preferences and didn’t get the cold stuff slathered on at the end so perhaps I just got a bad masseur.

User

Spa day was ruined by a manicure where my hands were covered in glitter, Having no table to sit at origionally for lunch as another party had been sat at our table and moved our belongonings no appolagy from staff. We had to ask the other table for our belongings that had been discarded. Once we had been seated and started our meal we had to go and locate staff so that we could have our final course of our meal after waiting over half an hour since finishing the previous course. It was a real shame that staff did not appolagise and just said we wondered why we had left over food. At the end of the day when I went to ask for nail varnish remover so that I could leave not looking like a 3 year old had painted my nails with a pot of glitter I was given one cotton wool pad to remove all the nail varnish and the poor masseuse had to go and find the manager who had just walked off. The offer of returning for another manicure was given but as I live an hours drive away and explained the situation that I'm not sure I'd want to travel to risk such a bad experience nothing was done. On a positive note my pedicure was brilliant and my husband enjoyed his massage.

User

On arrival the lady on reception who booked us in was rude no eye contact and because we didn't have a credit card only debit card was made to feel we were a hindrance!!! And she really looked like she didn't want to be there then we went to have a light snack in the bar we choose a turkey sandwich!! I honestly thought somebody had stood on mine the bread was thin and hard packet turkey and that cost us £7 each.

Evening meal was in our option below par and portions were so small and when we had finished our meal we were thinking was there a chip shop near by this may sound harsh but when u pay a substantial amount for an over stay and evening meal you really do expect more so can honstley say won't be going back or recommending to anyone

User

This was our 4th visit to the hotel last 3 visits we great but this time it was a disgrace I booked a room in the main house but was put in the outer room 281. The room was dirty very old fashioned, cobwebs everywhere and sharing the room with ants all over the place and to finish the bed had a large piece of ply trying to make it hard bed because it was so worn out.

User

The initial reception greet was poor with the hotel being a maze at first, especially with the map given. The signposted rooms is better to follow.

The worst part of our stay has been the lack of support for this humid weather, our room is way to hot, it has a leaking cracking in the ceiling, and we have only one fan which barely works.

The reception lady was hesitant at attempting to finding fans, then one just decisively spoke up and mentioned that there is only one in each room and every room is ouccupied.

I’m still at the hotel, and the staff are nice as is the breakfast, but the basics is very poor making our stay very poor, and we still have one more night. The only positive, that has been a real change, is the guide for local tourist attractions which they sent out via email.

Overall this has been a poor stay for such an elegant location.
