Well presented layout. Lots of interesting things to buy. Huge selection of plants, flowers and associated things. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely Sunday roast. First time visitor and will definitely be back.

User

Well I am a fan of this lovely garden centre and have to say the food in the cafe is worth waiting for . I would rather wait and have freshly prepared food than warmed up , so be patient it's worth it and staff are excellent.

User

We were visiting York for the day and decided to visit Dean's garden centre for breakfast before heading to the park and ride. We had the mini bothy breakfast and it was spot on, just the right amount and everything was cooked to perfection. The restaurant was stunning, airy and spacious, we had a lovely view out the window. Next time we visit York we will definitely be back!

User

We had lunch there, the food was delicious and service was excellent. Lovely place to go on a Monday or any day. Loved walking round the garden centre after, the plant's are all so healthy, we had to buy some. I will definitely be coming back.x

User

We go to Dean's garden centre a lot and save points in our loyalty card for a big Christmas tree which all the family come to choose in early December. (will try to attach picture)

Yesterday we took our 3 year old grandson biking and, after he did well, we asked him what he would like for a treat. He said "Go to Dean's for a cake and Daddy wants some compost"....so we did. He chose a ham sandwich and a piece of bakewell tart and we also had lunch. The portions were generous and helpful staff even gave us a bag so the little one could take half of his home for tomorrow! We browsed, bought compost, pots, cards etc and watched the fish. Another enjoyable visit and Alfie has spotted the Christmas preparations so we will be back again soon!

As keen gardeners and grandparents we recommend Dean's Garden Centre!

User

Visisted the new cafe this afternoon. It is very comfortable and plenty of space. It has a relaxing atmostpher. Even thought they were busy the service and food were still to the usual outstanding that one expectes at Deans.

User

Very nice place well set out and cafe was lovely we had lunch

User

This large cafe that opened in March of this year has very pleasant well trained staff, serving good quality food! We will visit again, and would recommend without hesitation.

User

The new and improved restaurant is lovely, extremely good service and the food is to die for.

User

The garden centre is well worth a visit all the staff are first class and nothing is too much trouble the cafe is just yummy

User

The best place around for terrific food and excellent customer service. The garden centre itself is great - Deans dream

User

Thank you Deans Garden Centre for the best Santa experience we've ever visited!

Santa was fab, great with the kids, spent ages chatting and asking them questions, and they loved the biscuit decorating and the story time too.

Would highly recommend to all!!!

User

Quick decision to pop to Deans. The food was delicious, for both of us and the service (plus smiles), was lovely. The fact you have a “for the smaller appetite” menu is genius.... we shall be back!

User

My kids go here every sat Morning with their nana jane they have a ball . so i decided to pay a visit to see what all the fuss was about... Amazing great produce cafe fab toilets 5 star and so clean will come here in future over b and q

User

Lovely place for a wander and the new cafe is brilliant, love the play area and the food is always yummy!

User

Love Deans cafe! My friend & I visit regularly & yes it can get busy but I’m not surprised the food is always fantastic & the staff are lovely too x

User

I love the variety and display of plants on offer at Deans and the new restaurant is a real asset. We had a pot of tea and a couple of scones but really wished we'd come for lunch having seen some of the food that came out of the kitchen. We'll be back!

User

I love Deans! The new cafe is gorgeous and it was really fast and lovely service even though it was jam-packed. Nice new toilets too! Seems like there are loads more plants available too so I spent about 4 hours there!

User

Have been to Deans for breakfast a couple of times. Service has always been excellent and the food well prepared. A treat I hope to repeat soon!

User

Had the egg mayo sandwich gluten-free bread , best gf bread I’ve found everything about the place is spot on , my mate had steak pie and it was delicious the gravy wow , went round the garden centre it was amazing every plant looked healthy and well displayed , we bought some goldfish ( pip , merry , Frodo n Sam ) the young man who helped was very knowledgable and helpful great friendly run garden centre a credit to all concerned,

User

Had latte and home made cherry cheesecake, service was a little slow to get two drinks and cheesecake but it was busy. Overall very nice.

User

Great cafe amazing fish. What you seriously need is loads more fish in tanks like the large fish tank you have already. And you seriously need a much larger display of flower craft things instead of the very small section you have. Cafe is really clean and great.

User

Both myself and my friend came in for breakfast ,we had scrambled egg with salmon and toast it was lovely and the presentation of food was spot on

User

As usual an excellent visit yesterday, cafe staff were friendly and helpful, excellent sandwiches and cakes (the Bakewell tart slice would have fed 3 of us!). Garden supplies wide ranging and staff advice excellent.

The only disappointment? My 3yo grandson who wanted to see the Christmas display but its not open until tomorrow (Saturday).

Guess that means another visit soon!

User

A wonderful garden centre with lovely helpful staff, especially at the cafe. Their apple pie is to die for! Excellent product range for home and garden, and superb local produce too.

User

first time visiting The Boffy since it reopened , very friendly staff ,love the design of it, very nice decoration, Breakfast was very nice, the sausages need less cooking & the hash browns more cooked, but in the end defiantly worth a visit cant wait to come back.

User

Just back from having a lovely Afternoon Tea in the new coffee shop for my birthday. Everyone was really helpful and the food was tasty and plentiful (unlike Bettys upstairs!!) I'll be back soon :)

User

I visited with two friends so it was a social event for us. We had coffee in the lovely restaurant. We then looked around the garden centre where I bought Primroses and a solar light. Afterwards we returned to the restaurant and had a light lunch. The food was presented well and it was hot and delivered to our table. Will go again

User

I love my outings to Deans - my garden is full of their plants & plant foods. Appreciate the loyalty card. They're good about taking back unused stuff (2nd horticultural grit not opened when having rockery built), and are nice about advice on site & checking if something's 'in' by phone. Not tried the new cafe yet but it looks to be a huge improvement space & ambience-wise.

User

Had a lovely afternoon visiting Dean's Garden Centre today. My 7 month old little girl loved all the Christmas decs and mummy and her friend had a lovely lunch in the restaurant. would definitely recommend

User

Good selection of different things of allsorts of things as well as plants .garden tools. Tubs. fish & food .cards.ornaments.the list is endless. More space in cafe when builder's have finished. Yes all in all very pleased. And nice helpful staff

User

Excellent garden centre but some items can be a bit overpriced (in my opinion). They do however, stock almost everything you could ever want for tiny gardens and huge gardens. The sandwiches in the cafe are well filled and delicious. Plenty of parking and very helpful staff. I'm a regular.

User

The new coffee shop looks great but unfortunately the service is very slow. It took 17 minutes from paying at the till to get our order of 2 coffees & 2 scones. I appreciate it's a new system & staff were trying their best but considering it wasn't food cooked to order I feel the waiting time was unacceptable as the coffee shop wasn't full. The ladies temporary WC's are not for the feint hearted

User

Love the quality and choice of plants but very disappointed with the menu in the new restaurant. My family are vegans and there was hardly anything vegan on the menu. The manager says a new menu is due out soon with more clearly labelled vegan options. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with x

User

As a garden centre wonderful everything you could want with good service, but they have just opened a new cafeteria which is lovely but has a lot of teething problems, running a good system, but staff having difficulty getting used to it. We got two over cooked dried up vege sausages, when we did not want the vege option, and didn't feel like returning them as we had already waited half an hour.

hope it settles in and they get thigs right because it has some real potential.

User

Quick service, polite waiters but only average food. Husbands lasagne very runny and not much flavour. My mushroom and cheese quiche had far too much cheese on top (1/4"), which then resembled an oil slick on the plate and the pastry underneath was very under-cooked. The onion rings however, were outstanding!

Lovely location, just disappointed on this occasion.

User

I would normally rate the cafe at Dean's quite highly and often visit with my son or husband to have a coffee and a scone (and sometimes lunch), however today I have left feeling completely ripped off and shocked at the poor level of customer service I received.

My son and I were planning on having a fruit scone and cappuccino (as usual), but upon reaching the counter were firstly told that the coffee machine wasn't working so 'you can only have filter coffee'. I realise this happens, but there was no sign up anywhere indicating this to those in the queue etc (we probably wouldn't have bothered in that case).

Secondly, the sultana scones on show were considerably smaller than the other types and actually quite burned - we therefore opted for two slices of bake -well tart. I felt this was overpriced at £3.70 for a small piece. So that was £9:45 for two small slices of bake-well and a filter coffee. (My son avoided the orange cordial priced at £1.05 for a glass).

I wouldn't actually have been overly bothered with that had I been able to sit on a clear table. There were 5 or 6 tables vacant but all were covered in other people's pots (probably from more than one group of people each). I just think if you are going to charge the prices of a high end coffee shop, then the service should go some way to match with it?

Finally, the reason I am actually writing this review is because I did try to pass on some of my comments (about the possibility of putting up a 'coffee machine broken' sign, and about the tables not cleared) to a member of staff working at the customer service desk, to which she simply smirked and said nothing. It begs the question, does Dean's value their customers opinions?

User

I visited Deans today with my mum and son. I asked if a meal could be warmed up for my son and I was simply told that they don’t do this but I was offered a long cylindrical container which I could put hot water in to warm my child’s food, needless to say my sons meal (which was in a dish) would clearly not fit. I then asked for a children’s menu and was told that there was only a menu for smaller appetites so my alternative was to pay £4.75 for a smaller meal for my 1 year old!

When our meals arrived they were just placed in front of us and we weren’t asked if we required anything else and when the meals were taken away we weren’t asked if everything was ok. Having worked in catering myself for a long time I was not impressed with the service. My mum has been going to Deans for many years and decided to bring myself and my son but unfortunately we won’t be returning as the menu is not suitable and the staff were less then helpful.

User
