Thank you to everyone that came to our film screening last night. The film was very well received, the discussion afterwards was lively and insightful, and we raised money in support our international work that is going on right now in Nepal and Rwanda.

Today we held our Kathmandu Semi-Final! Hundreds of students watched as Cindy's team came out on top. The team will be off to Pokhara and Bhaktapur over the next couple of weeks before coming back to Kathmandu for the National Final!

To help fund the delivery of our amazing Rwanda and Nepal programmes, we are holding a screening of Most Likely to Succeed.
Most Likely To Succeed (MLTS) is a thought-provoking documentary feature film that reveals the growing shortcomings of conventional education methods in today's innovative world. The film explores compelling new approaches that aim to revolutionize education as we know it, inspiring school communities to reimagine what students and teachers are capable o...f doing. To date, MLTS has screened for thousands of audiences around the world, igniting conversations and empowering change along the way.

The film screening will be followed by a conversation with Debate Mate students and mentors on how our programme changes lives not only in the UK but all around the world. Doors open at 6pm. Screening is scheduled for 6:40pm (Running time 1h 26m). All tickets include the screening, post-film discussion, and one drink. Come join us!
Proceeds raised from ticket sales will go towards the delivery of Debate Mate's summer programmes in Nepal and Rwanda. We will also be accepting donations and holding a raffle on the evening, so please bring some change!

In 2016 Debate Mate launched their DebateBox Programme in partnership with the Harrow Club in Latimer Road. DebateBox is a programme that engages students through both debating and boxing. For the 2017 programme, we wanted to document the progress of the students from the very beginning - recording the moments we see in the classroom and ring. In June 2017 the area, the Harrow Club, and the programme, were deeply affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
This short film gives an insight into the programme, the incredible response of the of the Harrow Club after Grenfell, and the strength and perseverance of the students involved.
We’ve decided to share it today, one year since the fire.

I thought the program was a great way to boost my confidence and meet new people. From this I have learnt that debate is more about arguing but able to present yourself in a persuasive way.
