Deliento is here to teach people about the nutritional and environmental benefits of introducing edible insects into our daily diet.

Lucy the founder of Deliento originally created the business as a project whilst studying Art and Design at Birmingham City University. Whilst working on the project she came to realise that it could be a business in the real world and thats how Deliento was born!

Deliento is about introducing edible insects as a new, sustainable, food source to the Western World, particularly in the UK. It was started to raise awareness for the health benefits of eating insects, as well as their positive impact on the world’s environment.

Lucy believes that we need to consider the way we eat so we can better meet the needs of our ever-growing population without depleting the world’s natural resources any further. A third of the world’s population already eat insects on a regular or daily basis and have done so for thousands of years, which has led Lucy to ask: why can’t we in the western world find more innovative ways to supplement the protein in our diets?

Deliento’s team of chefs work together in collaboration with Lucy to create some fantastic insect recipes, that combine typical food in the western world with the exotic addition of edible insects. These recipes are then turn into online tutorials, which enables anyone to cook tried-and-tested edible insect food in the comfort of their own home!
