Get to know your dog! Become your dogтАЩs absolute expert. Get to know what makes them tick!
... Know ahead of time how they will likely respond to an event and know how you're going to manage things if that event isn't necessarily a positive one, eg: visiting the vet.
Know what situations are good ones for your dog, and know what situations aren't so good. Plan and prepare and if you know the situation isn't going to be particularly positive for your dog, perhaps take steps so that they don't have to be involved.
Geeking out about your dog will in itself enhance your relationship with them!

Weekly Roundup - February 11th

We attended a naughty but nice one day workshop which was brilliantly put together and provided a safe space to practice the strategies to help worried and anxious dogs overcome obstacles. Thanks Devon Dogs. James Hunt BVetMed MSc CertVA DipECAWBM (AWSEL) European Veterinary Specialist in Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law.

Thankyou for the naughty but nice day yesterday we travelled from Gloucestershire and it was worth every minute, we were made to feel so welcome and at ease and Michelle was amazing, my reactive collie Ernie has never been able to work in an environment with other dogs before without spending all of our time outside, and by the end of the day he was working in the arena with 4 other dogs the calmest I have ever seen him. Totally amazing, I now have lots of strategies and games which I am able to use to keep him calm, we will be back soon as I have never felt so welcome for having a reactive dog, I came away feeling so much calmer, positive and confident, and not embarrassed about having a naughty but nice dog !! Thankyou xx

Thank you so much for all your help and support at the NBN camp. I felt I have learnt so much. I had to leave early to go straight to a dog show and have already used some of the techniques which really made a difference to me and my two dogs. Your all brill and I really appreciated the time with you all. Would recommend the camp to all my doggy friends. Keep up the good work. xx

Rarely do you come across such passion and dedication to the teaching of both dogs and owners.

Naughty But Nice camp surpassed all my expectations. It was worth every penny paid and every second of the ten hour journey. Here at last are a team of people with the optimism and experience to help naughty but nice dogs. What a difference from the negativity and misunderstanding frequently experienced elsewhere.

My first visit to Devon Dogs was a real joy! MichelleтАЩs enthusiasm and patience, and her super little Jasper was a real star. Hugely informative and a very relaxed session, thoroughly recommended to anyone. Thank you Michelle:)

Just wanted to thank Lauren and her team for the latest camp training

I was so gutted to have missed it, but was really pleased that my daughter Michelle and son-in-law were able to take our place instead, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time by all accounts.

I think it's fantastic that so many trainers give up their time to spend training us and long may it continue bit without feedback how do we know it's the right training or the right trainers ?

Just returned from a lovely training holiday with my 15 month old Springer Spaniel. Wonderful place and the training I received from Michelle was fantastic. I had stopped playing the games because theyтАЩd become stale, but Michelle has given us lots to work on and great tips on how to mix the games up. Plus, helped me understand the behaviour of my dog and how to approach my training sessions. And today we had a break through! I managed to keep my dog focused and got Middle twice while he was off sniffing like crazy - I lost him by the third try so called it a day, but was so pleased with the progress. So big thank you to Michelle.

Just got back from a week stay at Bowerland cottages, Devon Dogs. Took part in a one day Naughty but Nice course then had some 1:1 training sessions with Michelle.

Amazing accommodation and loads of room for my 5 dogs. The course was great and really gave be confidence with my Naughty but Nice dogs. The 1:1's were amazing and were really targeted and useful. Michelle was such a friendly and supportive trainer.

Really hoping I can save my pennies and go back again next year!

Just come back from a brilliant few days as Devon Dogs. We stayed in the annex and has 1:2:1 lessons with Michelle, as well as exploring the locality. Michelle was great and provided me with lots of ideas and strategies to use at home. The annex was lovely and I would happily return for another visit

I would just like to say how amazing Devon Dogs are. Lauren and her team know exactly what you and you dogs needs are and go above and beyond their roles as trainers every day. Her staff are a credit to Devon Dogs and never cease to amaze me.



If I had to choose anyone to train with in the world it would be Lauren and her instructors.

I wish I was able to visit Devon Dogs in person. Learned of the fantastic work done through my dearest friend Delia. Always wanted to get my high energy dogs involved in agility but now I have terrible allergies, and our location put a huge wrench in the works. Love the work you do, thank you for sharing the awesome photos. Keep up the great work!

I stayed at Bowerlands with my dog last April 2017. The annexe was very comfortable and there was everything we needed for a lovely stay. A secluded and secure garden made it stress free with my dog who decided to come into season the week before we were due to stay. I had decided to go there because my dog, who was 10 months old, had issues regarding recall and trust of people. I had tried several dog trainers in my area to no avail.

I was made welcome as soon as I arrived. I had several one to one sessions and now have a happy and chilled out dog, who has a happy and chilled owner. She does still have problems when people she doesn't know approach her but, with the training and tips I had, I know how to deal with the situation.

I would recommend Bowerlands to anyone who wants to learn more about their dog or just wants to have a relaxing holiday amongst beautiful countryside and friendly people.

I have attended lots of workshops run by Devon Dogs with my little Wocker called Margo who is 8 months old. I have found the small group sizes enables the trainer to give me (and Margo) plenty of tips and pointers on how to improve. Really enjoy each session and feel my dog gets a lot from them too.

Had a one off lesson with Michele yesterday as in the area on holiday. Just brilliant worked on the 2 areas I have problems with, Casey improved in a very short space of time. Also gave me lots of ideas to work on at home. Superb venue and facilities.

Had a brilliant weekend at European camp and learnt so much from Lauren and her team. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Also had a privates lesson with Teresa and a class lesson with Nicky and both were excellent. Have lots of home work now. Have booked for the September handling camp and can't wait to go back. The 4 hour journey each way was worth it and staying in one of the cottages was ideal and also excellent.

Excellent training facilities and instructors. Did a great summer camp in September and have started 121 lessons with Michelle (which are excellent) definitely recommend, if you in thinking about going for a workshop or lesson, do it, you will learn loads, have great fun and your dog will love you for it! я┐╜
