We are having intermittent problems with our phone lines at Larkbeare House and Newton Abbot office. If you have an urgent request please email: ceremonies@devon.gov.uk

User

Huge apologies if you tried to get through to us yesterday, unfortunately we had an issue with our phone lines and IT. This has now been resolved but you will appreciate that we will be extremely busy after the bank holiday so if your call is not urgent we would appreciate it if you could leave it until the end of next week. If you wish to make an appointment to register a birth you can do this on line by following the link below: https://new.devon.gov.uk/…/r…/part-1- how-to-register-a-birth

User

We are delighted to tell you that Exmouth Town Hall is open for weddings again after it's refurbishment. We held the first wedding on Saturday 7th April - Congratulations to Julian & Lian Moger......... The Registrars will be moving back in to take appointments at the end of this month. If you wish to book the Town Hall for your special day please call 0345 155 1002

User

2 of our Registrars were stranded overnight in Honiton on Thursday, they then stayed on to facilitate the only wedding that took place in Devon on Friday - that's what you call dedication - thank you Jo and Angie - amazing !!!! :)

User

Amazing people at the Landrover Experience ferrying the Registrars to and from weddings at Deer Park - thank you so much :)

User

Big shout out to Bob from Millbrook Cottages for collecting the Registrars to ensure the weddings went ahead at the weekend

User

We will get to your wedding !!!! Helen enlisted the help of hubby Ed to get her to the weddings on his tractor yesterday !!! Only in Devon .............

User

If you see this man at the side of the road with his thumb up please stop and give him a lift - he could be hitching to a venue to conduct someone's wedding !!!!! These are the lengths the team went to yesterday to ensure all of our ceremonies took place !!! Amazing !

User

All being well weather wise we have all ceremonies covered for tomorrow - amazing team of staff we have, so grateful for their dedication - have a great day everyone ....... at least the snow will be great for photo's !!!!

User

We will assess the situation regarding Saturdays ceremonies later today - we appreciate that you may wish to postpone your ceremony to a later date, this is fine with us and of course there will be no extra charge we will simply move the date. We understand that it is an important day for you and you want all of your guests to be able to attend and of course everyone's safety is paramount. We hope to be able to attend ceremonies already booked in but this will depend on the location and what the weather decides to do in the next 12 hours. We may have to adjust timings and ask that you bear with us, we can only promise to do our best...... If you think postponing is best for you then please email your contact number to: trish.harrogate@devon.gov.uk and we will give you a call to discuss the options. Many thanks for your patience :)

User

Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions all of our offices are closed today

User

User

Well what a romantic lot you are !!!! Our phones have been ringing off the hook since we came back from the Christmas break and then with Valentines Day ............ it seems there are lots of loved up couples out there. User

Hilary Logan was presented with a 'Long Service award' from the Registrar General for 25 years service to Devon Registration Service ......... although a little birdie told me it is closer to 27 years !!!

User

The 'initiative award' went to Wendy Wills who following a puncture on the way to a ceremony flagged down the local postie and hitched a ride to the venue ............ Wendy was presented with her very own Postman Pat van complete with Jess the cat!!

User

The official 'Ouch' award went to Barbara Donnelly, Deborah Ayre and Rachel Hannaford who have all experienced unfortunate tumbles at ceremonies this year!! We gave the ladies a handy handbag size first aid kit ................. for any future mishaps !!!

We were married yesterday, Saturday 27th January 2018 at Forde House, Newton Abbott, our registrars were Maureen Hunter and Jane (not sure or surname sorry ) Maureen and Jane were both so lovely, they put us at ease, we met them 15 mins before the ceremony but seemed to get straight away we wanted a fun relaxed day and that is exactly what we got. Cannot thank them both enough for making it a perfect occasion

User

We were married on 31st May 2018 at Lakeview Manor over in Dunkeswell near Honiton. Our registrars were Barbara Donnelly and Carole Smith, both ladies were lovely from meeting me outside the ceremony room, through the ceremony and making sure they said by to us both! I asked my new husband when he thought his nerves went and he said it was when the registrar told him to say his vows to me and not her! This made a few people at the front of our ceremony giggle! We also had one of the best compliments about our wedding flowers from the registrars - they bent down to smell the arrangement on the ceremony table and as there was no scent only then realised they were silk flowers! Thank you so much for a lovely ceremony, many guests commented after about how nice it was and the words used. Can't wait to get our video back so we can hear them again. I should also say that the registrars did apologize as the second certificate we ordered hadn't been prepared but they said it would be in the post soon. We arrived home the following day and it was already there waiting for us! Thank you again, Mr and Mrs Parkes x

User

We were married on 2nd June 2018, by Jo Duffin and Deborah Norman. It was such a lovely ceremony and felt it was as important to them as it was to us. Jo made us feel very special and our wedding was personal to us, not just another ceremony. Was a perfect day. Many thanks again, Helen and Mark.

User

We were married in June by Devon Registration Service - J Fade and J Dingle. They were really lovely and the words used in the ceremony were so nice that I asked for them afterwards to have them framed :). Definitely the best wedding ceremony I've been to! Thanks so much

User

We were married at Larkbeare House on 29th July. Our registrars were J. Clements and M. Sullivan. We booked The Killerton room about a year earlier and have to say the whole process was made so easy for us. On the day we felt the registrars made us feel that we were special and not just one of a number of such ceremonies they had done. The music was all played at the right time and they helped make the ceremony special to us. Between the showers of rain we managed to get some really good photos in the lovely grounds. It is a lovely venue to get married in.

User

We thought the staff were very friendly and were helpful & happy.

The ceremony was just right, not gushy or over the top but with just enough seriousness and not dragged out.

We had our ceremony in Torridge registration office, the photos we have show the lovely countryside views behind us through the large windows.

We married 9.6.18 the registrar was Jan Sampson and deputy was Vicki Over

User

We just wanted to say a massive thank you for such a lovely ceremony on Saturday 10th December 2016 at Larkbeare House.

N Lawson and J Clements were the registrars that day and made the morning exceptionally special. They both had a wonderful way of relaxing both me and my husband and entertaining our guests at the same time!

The ceremony was carried out with great professionalism and the atmosphere was memorable.

Sometimes a registry ceremony can feel a little rushed with other wedding parties waiting at the doors to be next in turn. This wasn’t the case at all at Larkbeare House. We didn’t encounter anyone else and were made to feel very unique and special.

Thank you once again, it truly was the best day of our lives and you helped with that enormously.

Kindest Regards

Mr & Mrs Matthey

Maureen immediately put me at ease from the moment I met her before the ceremony, she guided us through what was to come with such ease but making us both feel completly comfortable. We both felt our ceremony had the personal yet professional touch it really was just lovely an went completely smoothly. Thankyou Maureen & Julie so much for making out day extra special!! Mr & Mrs Tucker xx

We got married on 14th October in the Great Hall, Exeter Guildhall with Anna Bellamy and Jacqui Melville officiating. What a fantastic service! They were professional, very friendly and made us feel at ease. They took the time to find out about us in a short time and then made the service feel very personal. They had a great sense of humour and made it a marriage to remember. Thank you so much Becky and Mark Astley

User

We got married in August at Froginwell Vineyard & Ciderbarn, and I've been dreadful at making sure I've thanked everybody, apologies.

Our ceremony was fabulous, mainly due to the WONDERFUL Julie Clements.

Knowing Julie made our ceremony so personal and sincere, in the run-up she, along with other registration staff helped me with all aspects of the ceremony and we both cannot thank you enough.

My husband and I were married at Old Forde House on the 13th August and the ceremony was perfect - serious but relaxed and very friendly registrars (Sue and Hilary) which made the ceremony very special. I would highly recommend these two ladies and we will remember the ceremony for years to come with fond memories - thank-you so much!

User

My husband and I got married on 26th March at the gorgeous Millbrook Estate and we would like to say the hugest and most heartfelt thanks to Jan and Angela who officiated at our ceremony. They made us feel relaxed straight away and the words that Jan spoke were truly beautiful. They made our ceremony perfect and we are so grateful for that. Thank you so much xxx

User

My husband Ben and I got married on 2nd September at the South Sands Hotel - it was perfect! The registrars who officiated our ceremony were Anna Bellamy and Maureen Hunter, both were absolutely brilliant. We had many comments on how beautiful the ceremony was, and how Anna ensured that we took our time to take everything in and fully appreciate such a special day/important moment in our lives. We especially loved the additional reading that Anna gave about Salcombe at the end of our ceremony. Thank you both so much!

User

Mike & Karen Giles. Devon Registration Services provided an excellent service from the initial contact with their office, through subsequent queries and questions, to the actual service itself. David Proud, assisted by Anna Bellamy, tailored the wedding ceremony to ensure that, whilst all the legal requirements were dealt with, it was an enjoyable, inclusive and very personal experience. We would strongly recommend Devon Registration Services to anyone considering a civil ceremony within the county.

User

Mark and I got married on June 1st at Bovey Castle, and Jo and Jane made our ceremony all we had hoped for and more. We can't thank them enough and the ceremony itself was our favourite part of the day. Special thanks for giving our ring bearer, Peggy the Dog, all the time she needed!

User

I would like to say a big thank you on behalf of myself and my husband for the service provided to us by Devon Registration Service. Adam at the office was a great help to me with any queries I had in the run up to the big day and our registrar Barbara was so fantastic. She really did make such a difference to our day and we cannot thank her enough for this.

User

Huge thanks to Julia Rouse & Carol Brown .....they were so professional & helpful ..putting us at ease and making the ceremony perfect.

11-11-17 @Ocean Kave was magical ...made even more perfect by these two lovely ladies x

User

Hello sorry for late feedback .Would like to say thankyou to the two registrars from the torridge registation office at caddsdown, that came out to the royal hotel on 9th April2016 to marry us.

They were both lovely ladies and made us both feel at ease.

From the first time we met Alison Tomlin to chat about getting married until the moment we walked out of Bideford Register Office on Friday 16th June 2017 as a married couple we could not have been made to feel any more special. The whole process was explained and made so easy for us. The ceremony itself was very personal with humour and real warmth from Alison. Thank you so much for such a wonderful start to our married life.
