Nice to see a few fish in the river this morning, no salmonoids but who cares when you haven’t been fishing for over a month.
Westcountry salmon fishing tackle talk
Hi All, How is everyone doing? Today I had the feeling a case of the shack nasties were looming so I thought I better combat it with some positivity. Old news to most of you guys but I had fun talking about fishing and just maybe it gives a few people something to think about. Sending love and best wishes to everyone and a huge thank you to the NHS and key workers.
Lærdal, what a special place. Great memories!
We have enter the 3rd week of lockdown, at least the weather is beautiful, I am still tying early hatch flies in hope. A little bit on loop shapes today.
Good evening all, well what a day weather wise, sunscreen ahoy. I hope the trout are enjoying the peace and quiet, it sure was quiet on my hour walk this morning. I've been wondering, when we are allowed out fishing again, maybe we should have a staggered release 😁Today was all about the tension. Tomorrow it's all about the loops.
Here is a little video from the river Lawn. Snake rolls on small rivers and streams.
Hello All, I hope your all safe and well, I have made a couple of short spey casting videos highlighting a few faults. Its my first go at videos for facebook so there a bit rough around the edges. I used my iphone which is ok, but really a wider angle lense would be better. Stay well all. Gerald
No other humans insight just trout and the odd out of season grayling.
Searching for silver.
A day to myself. It was hard going, bright and breezy never easy, but very much worth the effort. First trout of the year on a dry fly, it doesn’t get much better up top.
2020 trout season has got underway on most of Devon and Cornwalls rivers and streams and sadly most were big and brown. The rain was coming down in stair rods this morning and the rivers rose rapidly. Trying to avoid the shack nasties I spooled up several new lines and serviced the bearings in a few reels. Checking Instagram and Facebook it’s a story of big brown rivers and not a lot of action, But well done to young Sam Baycock who looks to have got out and caught a trout or two on opening day.
Hello my fishing buddies, well we’re only another 5 days till 2020 trout season kick off, excited? I am!
The last few days I’ve been sorting out rods, reels, lines and making sure waders are water tight for our clients this coming season. There’s still lots of website amendments to get sorted and other tech, but we’re getting there slowly. Our diary is starting to fill, buds on the trees are starting to swell, all we need now is for the river to not swell anymore, our river...s have been up and down like Yo-Yo’s this winter.
Myself and a few buddies managed some cracking sport grayling fishing this winter, we had to go ultra heavy at times because the rivers were so high.
The 15th of March signals the start of the trout season but we wave good bye to the grayling until June. Not sure how well I would winter without the grayling fishing, to see me through the short days.
These are a few of my favourite images from this winters grayling fishing fun.
Tight lines Gerald
