Our latest project was a VW Transporter van conversion at Buyrite Tyres in Newton Abbot. This was a full conversion with fixed privacy glass all round. All our van conversion glass comes from a reputable supplier and is normally SGI or AM Glass, which we find fit a lot better than the cheap stuff sourced from eBay and other places. Our latest windscreen chip repair on a Mercedes Sprinter in Milber, Newton Abbot. Another classic - Ford Capri GT 3.0L which needed a replacement rear windscreen rubber in Brixham. This Ford Capri had recently had a new rubber fitted by another windscreen company and the top corners had been poorly fitted leaving gaps between the rubber and bodywork. MGBGT Windscreen Our latest classic car was a MGBGT which needed the windscreen removed and refitted to enable West Country Trimmers to replace the headlining. Sadly this MGBGT had previously been somewhere and had the windscreen changed resulting in damaged chrome mouldings. Despite this damage we removed and refitted the windscreen, insert and chrome mouldings. The most difficult part of a MGBGT replacement glass is always the chrome mouldings, after reading up on the forums it was our first chance to test out a new tool. Vauxhall Corsa Smashed Window Unfortunately this customer managed to lock their keys inside the vehicle. They decided the best way to get back into the car was by smashing the rear quarter glass. Ford Zodiac Front + Rear Windscreen Our latest remove and refit - Ford Zodiac front and rear windscreen. Both the windscreen and rear window needed to be removed and refitted, this enabled West Country Trimmers in Bovey Tracey to replace the interior headlining. The windscreen was a straightforward fit in a traditional rubber with chrome mouldings, the original rubber had missed the outer aperture when fitted years ago. Our latest windscreen repair was on a Vauxhall Combo for Beacon Park Removals & Storage in Dartington. The mild weather helped produce a perfect stone chip repair. This was a bad star break which needed to be opened up several times to enable the resin to flow into the cracks. In the summer this type of break would need to be cooled to prevent it cracking off under the windscreen repair process. One of our more unusual jobs this week was a refit on an Alvis windscreen for West Country Trimmers in Bovey Tracey. This type of windscreen would have once been fitted on a dumdum putty similar to the old split screen Land Rovers, sadly this product is no longer available. Our latest windscreen chip repair on a Mercedes C Class in Exeter. This was a double impact stone chip which takes a bit longer to repair as the resin flows through the first chip into the second. The second impact hole is filled with a thicker pit fill resin which caps the hole without blocking the chip / cracks underneath. Then the resin is injected into the first impact hole and with plenty of time it gradually fills both stone chips.
