What a fabulous night tonight. The musicians and singing groups were amazing and we witnessed the debut performance of our new community choir, packed with parents, staff, former teachers and former pupils!
A huge thank you to all the staff that made tonight possible, to Anya Small for conducting the community choir, to Miss Simpson from Solihull Music Service for all her support during 2018 of our musicians and to Mrs Nicholls for her impromptu stand up routine while we retrieved a runaway violin - Mrs Maddock.

All of the school’s choirs and musicians sounded amazing tonight! Music really matters at Dickens Heath - please take five minutes and help one of our youngest music groups to win £1,000 for the school so we can keep improving the range of musical opportunities we can offer our children.
As well as performing at tonight’s Christmas concert, our KS1 singers (age 5-7) entertained Touchwood shoppers with their brilliant singing last Tuesday afternoon. This was part of the Touch...wood Christmas Choir Competition and we need your help - the winning choir is the choir that receives the most votes and if our children win they will bring home £1,000 for our school!
To vote for our school please download the Touchwood App onto your phone, register and look for the Christmas Choir Competition. You can then select Dickens Heath as the winning choir. Once you've done this, please encourage all your friends and family to do the same. We need as many votes as possible. Thank you.

Time to get in the festive spirit! Tomorrow is our first brilliant ‘turn up and sing’ session - 4pm in the Music Room for an hour. Please do come along if you fancy a sing. Really doesn’t matter how good you are, if you love singing along in the shower you’ll fit right in!
Anya has put the lyrics and tracks of the two songs we will be singing (Somewhere Only We Know and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree) on the Solihull Pop Chorus website.

Well done to Holly in Year 5 for being awarded the runner up prize in the Waterstones ‘50 book covers in 50 years’ competition. As well as receiving a gorgeous book, Holly’s amazing artwork is being displayed in Waterstones book shop in Solihull. Pop in to have a look for yourself if you are Christmas shopping in town...

Congratulations to the PTFA and all the volunteers - parents, carers, staff and pupils - on a fantastic Christmas Fayre. And a special mention to the brilliant and talented Bake Off participants. It’s all feeling quite festive all of a sudden!

Well done to all of the children who attended the Year 2 multi-skills festival at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre this afternoon. The children were a pleasure to take and should be really proud of their sporting efforts! We don't have the results just yet for their final position, but as soon as we do we will let you know.
A big thank you to all of the helpers who gave up their time to take the children.

A mixed night of results for our football squad! Well done to the children from year 5 and 6 who took part the league matches tonight. Our team were held to a 0-0 draw, against Haslucks Green, in the first match of the evening (their keeper made several great saves!). Our second game was against a very good Shirley Heath side, who ended up beating us 5-0. It was a tough decision for our man of the match, but for his overall display (and a great save at the end in the first game!!) it went to Jack.

This morning FS1 children visited our woodland area to experience a real bonfire. We watched how Miss Wylde started the fire, and we described the sights and sounds that we could see and hear. We also learned all about keeping safe. Some of us then enjoyed some toasted marshmallows; we decided they were scrumptious!

Next Friday, 30 November, is the PTFA Christmas Fayre. 4-6.15pm in the hall. Ticket slips came out in book bags on Friday - and also by ParentPay email. Don’t forget to sign up for an appointment to meet Father Christmas in his Grotto before they all go! 🎅

Well done to all the children who played in our girls' football teams tonight. The first result was a little disappointing as the girls didn't deserve to lose 1-0 (OLOW), but they came back with a terrific performance for the second game against Lady K to win 3-0. Our players of the match were Connie and Evie for their overall determination and commitment!
Thank you to all of the parents and staff who came to cheer on the team.

Yesterday, a selection of Year 5 & 6 children headed out to the Ricoh Arena, home of the Superleague Champions 'Wasps' Netball team, for what was a truly amazing morning.
The girls all got to take part in a variety of skills and drills throughout the morning, led by various Wasps coaches and players. It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning, one which the girls will not forget in a hurry. We even got to have a tour around the changing rooms and our photographs taken with the 'S...uperleague' Trophy. As an extra bonus, we also got to walk away with a signed Superleague netball after Holly C won a game of heads and tails with over 500 people taking part! Well done Holly! We will be displaying this in our sports cabinet for everyone to see.
The girls were a credit to our school. We definitely have some potential future 'Wasps' players on our hands! Well done girls!

Don’t forget, tomorrow is non-uniform day for Children in Need. Pupils and staff can wear something 'spotty' in return for a £1 donation to the charity, which works to improve the lives of children across the UK.
Wishing lots of luck to Team Dickens Heath - group of past and current pupils of the school who are doing the BBC Countryfile Ramble for Children in Need too. Make sure you all wear your wellies!
