Digging up Your Roots is a genealogy and family tree research service. We can help you find your roots and break through walls in your family history.

Karen has over 25 years experience of researching her own family tree, and in more recent years has branched out into helping others find their own roots. She is passionate about family history, and can either help you start your own family tree, or assist you with breaking through barriers that you have found in your own research.

Any information you give me in order to get started is held in complete confidentiality. Prices as below:

Research by the hour: £15. 00 per hour, plus certificate costs.

Bronze package - £175: A single line package (for example, researching your father’s surname) covering at least four generations back to the early 1800’s. Includes the cost of 4 birth certificates, 4 marriage certificates, and other documentation. The information will be presented in a springback binder (available in 4 colours), and will include:
- A full report that will provide you with details on when and where your ancestors were born married and died. The report will also include information on your ancestors occupations and about where they lived.
- Birth and Marriage Certificates.
- Transcripts of 1841 – 1911 census for the family (where available), showing the whole household including children, their addresses, ages, places of birth and occupation.
- Family tree and ancestral charts.
- Research log detailing the records we have searched and suggestions for further research.
- A CD-ROM containing electronic copies of all supporting documents and a GEDCOM file (the international standard format for genealogical data) of your family tree. (This will be useful should you wish to continue research at a later date, or print copies of the research findings to give to family members. )

Silver package - £300: Research for 2 lines (for example, your father and your mother's surnames). Researched and presented as above, including the cost of 4 birth certificates, 4 marriage certificates, and other documentation, PER LINE.

Gold package - £550: Research for 4 lines (for example, each of your grandparents' surnames). Researched and presented as above, including the cost of 4 birth certificates, 4 marriage certificates, and other documentation, PER LINE.

If you require additional birth, marriage, or death certificates, these will be provided at a further cost of £9. 25 per certificate for England and Wales certificates, or £12. 00 for Scottish records (this is the current cost charged by the General Records Office).
