Digico Description
The company was formed in 2002 with the purchase of Soundtracs, which was formed in the early 1980s by a group of recording engineers in search of a better studio console than those available at the time. The team's success led to two decades of audio innovation and, in 1992, its first development of a digital audio mixing console.
In 1996 this program led to the launch of the acclaimed Virtua console, followed a year later by the DPC, in 1998 the DS3 and in 2000 the D4. Since 2000 the company's product range has been based entirely on digital audio. Along the way a host of new technologies has been introduced, including the first use by an audio manufacturer of the revolutionary Sharc DSP from Analog Devices, a faster, more efficient processor than any then on the market, the first (and still the most comprehensive) use of multiple TFT LCD touchscreens, a pioneer in the use of a 96kHz sample rate, and the first to run multiple sample rates simultaneously.
This is just some of the experience that went into creating DiGiCo's first product, the D5 Live digital mixing system, which brought with it a revolutionary approach to both the live sound console and the way it interfaces with both ends of the audio chain.
DiGiCo has always been ahead of its time, basing the D5 around a powerful DSP engine using proven Soundtracs hardware and software, but with features dedicated to live sound mixing, it created the world's first truly open-ended console system.
This design philosophy has continued through the intervening years and has seen the addition of an entire range of products within the acclaimed D Series range.
Now, it has taken a quantum leap forward.
Using a single Super FPGA [Field Programmable Gate Array] , the new SD Series combines this single chip technology with the new Tiger SHARC to produce our trademarked Stealth digital processing. With eight times more power than the already incredibly powerful D5, this makes the SD Series the most powerful digital audio solution available.

We purchased 2 S21 consoles with MADI cards for FOH and Monitors, with the D2 box for our small performing arts theatre, they sound great and are ultimately user friendly, totally customize-able, has production easy snapshots and is Digico rock solid reliable! Well done!
Next visit I’ll bring a real coffeemachine... lol...
Love the consoles, the long term staying power of the technology, customer service is excellent,...love my S21.
I've had an SD9 for about 2 years now and received my S21 about a month ago. Both consoles sound absolutely fantastic! And no other console that I know of has the flexibility of an SD series console. Also, DiGiCo's customer service is second to none.
I work on digico consoles quite regularly. Their final quality, and work flow are above the rest!. Now after many years of waiting for the iPad remote app makes life that while lot easier!
I love the new S21, but I can't bring myself to give you all a 5 star without the ipad app that was promised! DiGiCo come on! It's been a year or more already! Make it happen and I will change this rating to a 5! It can't be that hard!

I have been working on Digico SD Consoles for the last 3 years and its my favorite one of them all. Love the flexibility and the many advanced options.
I have been waiting for something with the form factor and portability of the SD11 without any compromises on sound quality for years and it has very much been worth the wait.
I bought an SD9 as my first ever digital console about 7 years ago. I wandered the corridors of PLASA with some audio friends for ages looking around for a substitute for my trusty analogue desk. I was going to have a lot of digital novices ( including me!) that we're going to use the desk as I have a youth / church background so my criteria was quite strict. As I remember it was basically the following:
1. Easy to use and sensibly laid out.
2. Feels analogue
3. Great pre amps
4. Flexible routing and processing
5. Quality FX and dynamics
6. Easy to multitrack Rec & Rep
7. Expandable
8. Console support both in and out of office hours.
9. Be able to talk to the console manufacturer direct
10. Software upgrades at no additional cost to me - at least to start with!
One console manufacturer stood out for me and my friends who came with me. It was more expensive than the competition but I made up my mind virtually straight away that the SD9 ticked every box, and of course helped by my friends who said 'go on you know you want to!'
Everyone who has used my SD9 even if they have never seen a digital one before, and there have been many, has a smile on their face after about 30 minutes and a little hand holding.
I've enjoyed using it and so have many of my friends. I cut my digital teeth on a Digico - in my opinion worth the extra.
Every console can make a job, yet, there isn't a team of people like the Digico team, there isn't a service and care like the Digico customer care.
Most important, there isn't a community of engineers like the users of Digico.
DiGiCo SD series are the best sounding digital consoles out there! Ultimate flexibility and function, obviously created by people who love mixing as much as the end-users.

3 Points made me crazy about DiGiCo
1 - Best sounding Live DiGiTal console I've ever used
2 - Absolutely customisable control surface. The console adapts to you, you don't have to adapt to the console
3 - Open signal architecture. You can do whatever you want with the signal flow.
20 years ago, I was wondering where our profession would go, and the future of the equipment used live, today DIGICO, materialized, these perspectives and the dreams, glimpsed in the past, in the concept of their consoles, I LOVE YOU SD9 ...
We purchased as S21 console for our church, ABSOLUTELY love it! It sounds great and operates how a sound tech thinks.
Only remark, we are really dissappointed the Ipad App is not out yet..... Digico is really late in my opinion!! The seller promised it was coming soon......................... Still waiting....
To the world have Digico S series of sound engineers, Do you have found S21 Local IO and D-rack / D2-rack IO output, the Polarity is reversed?
As early as in 2016 began to use, We has been with the official response, but never received effective help and answer!
From the 1.1 version, has been upgraded to 1.4 version, did not solve the phase problem, and we tried three S21, the results are the same!
How can this serious mistake be resolved?
