Another great weekend at Dingwalls/ Canalside bar for our monthly event. My friends and I had a great time, thank you all to the staff, they were professional, helpful and fair with one or two drunk customers. this bring me to my next review info on previous reviews made by other customers.

@ Tammy Kors.

myself with another 4 people saw what happened with your friends and you. I understand you were upset and very young with no life experience. Keep in mind before making such statement..... that your friends and you as a drunk group attacked a young girl inside the club first, when the manager and security asked "What Happened?" near the exit doors. Your friends and you were started swearing at them, I heard some of your friends shouting "Racist comments" to other customers, management, security. I am sorry to hear your friend who got hurt but we also saw you and your other drunk friend with a red top on, punching the lady security in the face for reason, than both of them drop on the floor near the exit doors. Of cause other security will help and removed you both off the lady security before closing the doors. (you all should of the left the club when the manager asked you to, you or your friends are the people who attacked a customers, who attacked a security first, your lucky the security didn't call the police at the time) Your friend hurt herself because she was kicking and punching a metal framed door...and you wonder why your friend is hurt.

I hope the police and your parents will see the CCTV footage to see how you and your friend were drunk and how everyone in your group behaved that night.

I hope the lady security press chargers for assault and the club manager to press chargers again you all for property damages.

We love lock 17, especially now that we can enjoy the sweet saxophone music. It is a shame he is hide inside and not outside where would be better. Anyway my congrats to the manager team for the great idea.

User

Myself and an old friend recently visited Lock 17. The service and drinks were excellent, the atmosphere pleasant. What surprised us both that evening was the brilliant blues/funk band they had playing live for a few hours. Rhythm section was superb these guys played a marvellous set. It's great to see Dingwalls keep up its tradition of supporting live music!!

I don't mind paying £10 for a good burger, only the burgers here were very very average as was the portion of chips. Had to find and dry our own cutlery. Barman didnt seem at all interested in us and our order. I like Camden Pale Ale but £5.75 for a pint is too much.

User

Slow and kind of rude service. Plus toilets were not monitored at all, to the point that they were blocked, overflowing and the sanitary napkin bin was overflowing in every cubicle. We had to request toilet paper at the bar and then were left waiting for 10 minutes for that toilet paper to be delivered whereby the toilet paper was placed on the floor in the bathroom for us to deal with ourselves. Really disgusting.

Was absolutely devastated by my experience last friday for SYSTEM, I've been going to this event at various venues for years now, and it is always the highlight of my month when it's on - The security at the door were extremely rude to me and my girlfriend, I understand its protocol to be thorough but to be treated like cattle and to be personally insulted is quite out of the ordinary for me, as a serial club goer.

The real problem was that both me and my girlfriend enjoyed the gig for a matter of five minutes, before security grabbed us and threw us out - why? Because I took it upon myself to let the cloakroom staff know that they were being EXTREMELY rude, one particular member of the staff did not speak to us for five minutes and left us standing right there (probably because the cloakroom wasn't open yet, but could we get that information relayed verbally? no), When we expressed to him that his behaviour wasn't particularly professional, he thought it was appropriate to stare at my girlfriend, it was unbelievably weird, and rightfully so i told him off for it- Apparently expressing discontent at such treatment is worthy of being kicked out.

I have never been kicked out of a club, in my entire life, and i'm used to extremely strict policy at the door, such as Fabric/Electric/Cable. There are entire forum threads dedicated to this particular event, and looking back at the reviews, past the obvious shills, it is obvious that i'm not the only one complaining.

Such a sorry state of affairs that this place has been run to the ground, i used to love the vibe, but it seems the security and the staff have been allowed to rule with an iron fist, much to the detriment of anyone simply wanting to have a good time without being accosted.

In short, and excuse my french, fuck this place.

Upon entering the club the staff seemed quite polite and professional. Later in the evening I went to the loo, upon returning to meet my girlfriend at the rear of the club near the bar, we were confronted by two bouncers who grabbed my girlfriends arm and told us we had to leave, in disbelief I made a point of respectfully and calmly asking them why are we leaving, they didn't give us a reason and simply began dragging us off to the exit, me and my girlfriend didn't resist in any way other than simply asking as to why. Upon reaching the exit they then to my disbelief, began barking at us that we were too drunk and that we had to leave the club (I had 4 maybe 5 beers all night and was very much in control of my actions, also there were countless people there clearly more intoxicated and at significantly more risk of injuring themselves than me and my girlfriend). We along with several friends left/were removed from the club with quite needless aggression. When we were outside gathering ourselves the bouncers opened the door literally threw two women out of the club onto the floor where they seemed to land quite hard they both seemed very upset and we later saw one of them, clearly injured, limping away from the venue. I then complained to the manager in the front door who was very arrogant and confrontational and cared very little about any of my concerns. I won't be coming back to this venue ever again out of fear of being singled out again or being on the receiving end of the obviously excessive aggression used by the security staff. I later discovered that one of the women involved had her knee broken during the altercation with the bouncers. I really hope that dingwalls reviews their staff's behavior in order to protect their customers in future.

User

The venue is fine but I have never experienced such rude or aggressive bouncers in my life.

My friend was just standing in the courtyard drinking her beer when one of them yelled at us to move back as we were supposedly too close to the entrance. Fine, no problem, we did, assuming we were now where we were supposed to be. A minute later he turned around and started swearing and screaming at her that if she didn't move away he was going to "throw her on the fucking floor".. we weren't drunk or trying to make any trouble, we were just trying to go where we were told.

After we had our drink we confronted him on the way out, asking if that was really necessary. He then got incredibly aggressive again, denied he had said it and started yelling "what the fuck are you accusing me of" in her face...

So over the top and not necessary. I get that they have to deal with drunk people all night, which can be stressful, but I was completely sober and we were talking in a very calm manner.

Seems like the typical 'roided up meatheads who get off on the power of pushing people (particularly women) around. Shame cause it's a cool venue but definitely wouldn't go again.

User

Poor management. Event this Sunday was scheduled to finish at 3am. Due to the management Shaka was asked to finish early resulting in the evil so called management team switching off the power from the mains. No people skills. Highly unprofessional. So called managers.

User

Me and 6 other friends visited here, we were told they were stopping food for 30 minutes which we were happy to wait. Then after 30 they said another 30 minutes, then again “within the hour”

Terrible customer service, terrible food which was cold also served half our table with food and by the time the other food came the rest had finished.

User

Locked off jah shaka sound 30minutes before it was due to close...pathetic. Shut the bar an hour before the end. Shit venue, fuckface management. Pricks

I was shocked by the way staff treated myself, my boyfriend and countless others last weekend. We went with high expectations and enjoyed the first part of the night, getting over some of the initial unpleasant encounters with staff being unnecessarily rude or unhelpful. After a few hours though, we got kicked out for no reason at all - i was waiting for my boyfriend near the bar, when two bouncers approached us, grabbed my arm and walked us to the exit, and told us we had to leave because apparently we were too drunk to walk or talk. we were kind of stunned because this just wasn't the case but we didn't resist or argue, we just tried to explain that we were fine and weren't causing anyone any problems - if this was their real concern then they wouldn't have targeted us but one of the countless other people who were obviously more intoxicated. they ignored all attempts at rational conversation and it was clear that they knew they had no real reason to kick us out or treat us the way they did. I've never been targeted by event staff like this before and still can't think of a single reason why they might have had reason to remove us from the club.

Also, just after me and my friends left the club we saw another two girls being literally thrown out of the door - they landed pretty heavily and we later found out that one of the girls broke her knee in this altercation. I can't comment on what had gone on inside the club before we saw this but it definitely didn't call for such aggressive and unprofessional action.

It makes me so angry to see event staff treating people like this without reason and thinking they're untouchable. I won't be coming here again.

User

I had a really poor experience upon entering the venue last Friday, door team were extremely rude, over familiar and obnoxious, it also felt like a airport. When finally getting inside the club it was really fun until when it closed and i was manhandled out because my drink wasn't finished. Sadly i wont be returning to Dingwalls again. Guys SORT IT OUT.

User

Hugely overpriced, a pint of London Lager is over £5!!! Crap thumping 'music' as if it were a niteclub but it was half empty last friday. There were also people in the way in the very small toilets selling colognes. Disappointing. Come on guys.

User

Great, helpful staff behind the bar, however the security guard I dealt with was horrifically judgmental and personal. I got pulled aside by an aggressive security guard, he was Indian/Pakistani if that helps. He told me I need to leave with no explanation of what I'd done wrong. Really offended me as there was no explanation, and took it down to the way I looked. Definitely will not return to somewhere where the staff are so hurtful.

User

Great club and event a few Friday's ago but security severely let's this venue down. I saw 3 different people kicked out. One for dancing (they bumped into one person) and got man handled and kicked out, another was next to me and got kicked out for stepping on a member of your security teams foot by accident... also kicked out. Unfortunately i wont be returning as wont my group of friends! Poor door staff, id advise to change urgently.

User

Gig venue was great but security were awful. Rude and abusive and were screaming in fans faces and shoving people out of the venue without even giving people a real chance to get out. Even saw a woman get carried out of the venue against her will. Made to feel very unsafe by the very people who were there to keep people safe.

User
