New animatronic based upon our Neovenator, currently on show at Fukui Prefecture Dinosaur Museum, Japan. We need to raise £200K to bring one of these fantastic models to Dinosaur Isle Museum. A challenging task! https://www.facebook.com/100007508311476/ posts/2096776677249256/

Beautiful Brachiopods! Our summer activity continues each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Searching through the specimens has led to us finding lots of different types mixed in, below are some of them.

Only occasionally will we share Facebook stories, usually we are happy to share stories from our partner organisations. This short piece though is a message to young people considering careers in Palaeontology, in particular girls and young women. Be inspired!
Dinosaur Isle Museum welcomes applicants for work experience, and not just from people living on the Island!

Recent cliff fall at Red Cliff. There has been a large fall in the Ferruginous Sands at Red Cliff. This fall is still active and presents a risk to life. Whereas, it is possible to walk around it at low tide, we strongly recommend people stay away. As a result of this fall we have decided to cancel today’s Walk to the Chalk, if you were booked on the trip please contact the museum. Other field trips to Yaverland are unaffected.

This little Deshayesites ammonite was found on a school fossil walk recently. Great finds are made on the Island all year round.

User

We went on a fossil walk today with Alex, he was great with the children and very knowledge about what they had found. I didn't expect to find much but actually we filled a huge rucksack with small to large fossils, my 9 year old daughter is the fossil fan in our family but actually we all found it so much fun and I think my 5 year old has just found his new obsession.

User

We visited early last year, my daughter really enjoyed it, purchased a small Dino figure that has always been by her side. Contacted them last week to ask if they still sell him as needed another. One arrived in the post today , really pleased and excellent customer service. Was willing to pay and cover postage but they just sent it out to me complimentary. Thank you so much. One happy child again!

We came today to escape the rain with our 5 year old and 2 old daughters. Both loved it especially our 5 year old. She was surprisingly interested in all the displays and loved walking around with her clipboard doing the activity sheets definitely recommend this

User

We booked the fossil walk today at Yaverland. We have never done one before and had the best time. We have learnt so much from our amazing knowledgeable guides. We walked along the beach and were so pleased with our finds. Lots of fossilised wood, fools gold, fossilised fish bones, coral, sea sponges, and dinosaur bones all 120 mill years old. The history was so interesting Thank you

User

Very pleasantly surprised, I'd checked out the flyer & thought it would be a ten min walk through but WOW, from ultra friendly staff to some great displays, my 10 year old could had quite easily spent all afternoon there

Really good value for money

User

The amazing fossils of the "Dinosaur Isle" representing beautiful specimens from the JurassicCoast. The Isle of Wight, although just a small island, is famously known as “Dinosaur Island”, being the richest place in the UK for dinosaur remains, and home to a handful of new species. Lovely museum and museums staff!

User

Staff are very engaged with their customers, everyone took time with my three year old and let him get involved. Yes it was a quiet day but we are members and the attitudes of staff are always this good!

User

Really good day out. Everything well laid out, very interactive. Amazing display of huge model dinosaurs, two areas where the youngsters can dig for bones!

User

Our little dude loved dinosaur isle !!! Very cheap, even in the shop and lots of facts!! Lots of activity sheets to keep the kids interacted and it was bigger than I thought it would be! Lovely staff and highly recommended for all dinosaur lovers!! X

User

My boys aged 5 & 9 had an amazing time. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

User

My Boys, aged 1 and 3, both loved it. Especially brushing in the sand to find fossils and controlling the robotic dinosaur. Even the hubby enjoyed himself! So many different activities and loads of information. A great day out

User

Lovely little centre. Well priced and a lot

Of information to take in and learn about. This has been my 2nd visit and me and my partner really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to the really friendly staff.

User

Great, cheap family day out. Lots of activities upstairs for the little dinosaur enthusiasts who doesn't fully appreciate the exhibits, which was greatly welcomed by us as a family with younger children. The museum itself is fantastic, the staff really know what they're talking about -rather than just reading a script & are really happy to answer any questions.

User

Brilliant place, daughter loves it there.. Highly recommended..

User

Brilliant place

User

A fantastic learning experience as you go through the different stages of early earth. My 2 year old might have been a bit young for it as it alot of reading but at 34 I thought it was brilliant.

User

What a great place to visit! My 7 yr old love the dinosaurs and being able to interact with the different displays!! How nice is it for children to be able to touch, smell and take part in activities! The staff were very friendly and helpful and to top it all off it was great value for money for my wife, my son and I. Highly recommend for a future visit

User

Please change the paints in the art room my friend was quite gutted the colours were all mixed together

User

The beach area is nice but the actual museum is not much to see. Around 10GBP pp not worth paying. Few dino bones with lots of recreations. Staff is friendly and the shop has good reasonable prices to buy gifts. Better to see natural history museum in London at least its free and had more detail historical artifact about pre-human age.
