Dipsomania

About Dipsomania

Dipsomania: noun, alcoholism, specifically in a form characterised by sporadic cravings for alcohol. Origin: mid 19th century, from Greek dipsa, meaning ‘thirst’ + -mania.

Dipsomania Description

Dipsomania began during those long years spent studying a PhD on breastmilk at the University of Cambridge. I started to run cocktail workshops in the college bar with an emphasis on quality, not quantity (not easy in a student town). I eventually pursued this passion further with sessions at May Balls and June events. I was often invited to make cocktails in people's homes, turning every occasion into a party!

Dipsomania took a little rest when I was stationed on fieldwork in The Gambia and then in Cork, Ireland, for a year.

Dipsomania is also my page for posting and blogging about my bartending adventures. I divide my time between working the the Reina Lab and representing Black Cow vodka. There is always time to exercise my forever increasing skills as a mixtress of delicious liquids, a menu writer, and of course a dedicated, full-time taster.

The Reina Lab was founded by myself and the talented Michele Reina, who is the lab's Director. E-mail reinafbs@gmail.com to ask about our range of tailor-made cocktail ingredients (including liqueurs, vermouth with no added sugar, and bitters).

The team (and I) are still available for cocktail workshops and masterclasses so please contact me to book. Watch this space for upcoming events.

Cheers, Dipsomaniacs, to happy, responsible drinking!
