Disability Advice Service - East Suffolk

About Disability Advice Service - East Suffolk

Founded in 1985 DAS celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2020. We work at the heart of the East Suffolk community supporting anyone with a disability related issue or problem - including their family carers. But we serve areas outside of East Suffolk too - in fact over 20% of our clients are from elsewhere. We provide free independent advice on welfare benefits (including representation at appeals tribunals); benefits for people of state pension age; housing rights; adaptations to the home; accessible transport and leisure; employment and support for return to work and Energy Support for those experiencing Fuel Poverty. We have a dedicated Crisis worker, who is an expert in her field and will ensure that we do everything we can to help clients in their time of need. We also operate a Listening Service - reaching out to people who have maybe not spoken to us, or anyone, for a while; checking in to check all is well and offering support if it is not. It is our mission to build confidence, enabling those who live with disabilities to gain the same rights and quality of life opportunities as others. Our charity object is: "The relief of children and adults with disabilities and their carers in East Suffolk and nearby areas. "
