About Dishoom Carnaby

The original Bombay cafés have almost disappeared. Opened early last century by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, their faded elegance welcomed all.

Dishoom Carnaby Description

Dishoom pays loving homage to the Irani cafés that were once part of the fabric of life in Bombay. Opened early last century by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, there were almost 400 of these cafés at their peak in the 1960s. Today, fewer than 30 remain.

wonderful waited 30 min for food but was entertained at the bar with the cocktail makers. Then had a truly great diner presented by lovely staff who were more than happy to inform you on the food and history of place

Went here for dinner with a friend who raved about it. It did not disappoint! Had to wait a bit (as it was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in London so everyone had the same idea as), but it was worth the wait! The black daal is incredible. It's a really funky set up inside as well, really great place to chill and feast! Thank you Dishoom! :D

Went for dinner! Lovely place with excellent preparation! Bookings must as the place is very popular!

We had brunch here yesterday to set us up for a heavy days shopping. I had the Bombay omelette with extra bacon. It was *delicious*. Easily the best omelette I have ever had.

I've had chai before and haven't liked it. But the chai here is unspeakably good and I'm now converted.

We asked about whether there was a recipe book (not being a London local and wanting to have a go at recreating the omelette at home) but was informed that there isn't one. But on the plus side, we were told that there are plans for a Manchester venue. So we left, full of lovely food and very happy northerners!

This is a restaurant chain serving Indian food but I have to say, the food is always fresh, good quality and really well thought out.

Advisable to book as the place is usually jammed solid.

Chefs special lamb is divine, the chilli cheese on toast is gorgeous , Ruby Chicken is a favourite of Katya”s , we both loved the lemon chilli veg and who would have thought chilli ice cream would taste amazing with chocolate?

This is definitely the best ‘chain’ food you’ll ever taste

Mid range price wise and ideal for families, couples, friends or pre-theatre, or just because you can, everyone welcome -which is why Kat and I go.. we love it.

Service is also pretty good too-what’s not to like.

My husband and I had a meal at Dishoom on Saturday. The food was excellent and the large King Fisher beer ice cold! Great atmosphere highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Just had a super yummy meal with four friends at the Dishoom Carnaby. Perfect food and very friendly helpful staff. Our waitress was brilliant. Sorry, forgot her name (must be the beers) but she was Asian with a sexy French accent! Ooh La La! Will deffo be coming back.

It was the best Indian food I have ever tasted. Although we had to wait at least 45mins for a table we sat at the bar and drank delicious pina coladas. Our waiter was new, but made some good suggestions on what and how much to order. The naan was amazing. The chicken curries were divine and the greens were very fresh and served al dente. Highly recommended!

Had an amazing meal here today. A wonderful Jackfruit biryani was the highlight for me. Excellent service and a buzzing atmosphere. Great value too considering the location. 100% recommended.

Late lunch with friends and got in straightaway. Ordered mix of dishes to share and each one was delicious, although the texture of the lamb dish was a bit weird. Food came out pretty quick. Staff were good, not too pushy and checked everything ok for us. Would definitely go again!

I tried to visit 3 different locations on a single day for breakfast/ lunch and dinner and was told a waiting time for 60 mins or more. Got lucky on day 2 for dinner.. good food and great atmosphere... Missed the chai though..👍

I had heard a lot about Dishoom and wanted to try it. We were told there would be a 45 min wait and asked to join a queue outside. It was a very warm evening so standing outside was not a problem especially as they were offering a free glass of sherry. Very nice touch. Then we were ushered in to receive a pager and told it would be another 45 minutes. Most other people in our situation had gone to the bar but we didn’t want a drink as we had a train journey ahead and didn’t want to be wiped out after a long day. I was starting to worry that the food would take ages too. We were eventually shown to our seats and looked after by a very nice waiter. The food came really quickly. The keema pau was really nice. Mains was plain naan, Black Daal and chicken tikka. The naan was really excellent and just like the naans in India. The Daal was good too. The chicken tikka was disappointing. A bit too much heat for my Delhi palate and not enough flavour. But overall good and I would go back. Great atmosphere and good service.

It’s a great option if your hungry and you happen to be in London. I’ve been there around 10 times since last year. To be fair there’s been a few hiccups now and then but nothing major. I was there yesterday and ordered Paneer Tikka. When it was served I asked the waitress if I was able to get maybe a little bit of sauce, gravy as I didn’t realise it would be dry. I waited for at least 20 minutes and had no show or explanation as to if I could have it or not. Whilst waiting for her non return I had to then just get on with eating my food that was now cold. I did not enjoy my cold food.

Probably one of the worst meals I've had for Indian food. The bhel that was supposed to be non-spicy was extremely spicy and when I pointed that out I was told it was because I couldn't take lime. The calamari was nothing but oil. The AC on top of our table kept dripping - the server who knew didn't do anything about it. So disappointed. This place came highly recommend and I couldn't have been more disappoinyed by the food and service.

User

Not worth the wait or the price. Went for dinner.
