|DON’T UNDERESTIMATE YOUR FEET| 👣 👣 Your feet are under pressure to perform all the time and sometimes the value of this body part is totally underestimated. :... : If you’re feet are hurting, you might not be able to walk, let alone run or better still, dance or perform! : : I loved seeing these ballet shoes on one of my home visits this week. |YOUR SHOULDER...PART 2|
Remember this young man from last week? He could only lift his arm above shoulder height with assistance of the other arm! His shoulder was clicking with movement and the movement pattern was all out of sync!
Look at his current progress
... I’m not saying it’s perfect by any means but the pain has significantly reduced and the range of movement unaided has also improved.
Undoubtedly this young man has some damage within the shoulder that needs some attention but this result isn’t bad for two sessions in!
His main issue at this stage is weakness more than pain.
His rehab continues....

|POWER LIFTING|
As a Physio it is really useful to understand the activity/exercise that my patients perform. Sometimes a description just isn’t enough. Plus I just like to get my hands dirty!
This Patient of mine (Who has given me permission to use her videos) sustained an injury but has continued to train, modifying her exercises throughout the course of her training week. I told her that I wanted to join her for a session.
... I wanted to record her movements so that I could analyse her patterns, particularly as she fatigued and I wanted to contribute useful strategies into her training that she could independently use moving forward.
This young lady is strong. She’s a gymnast by background, so I know the capabilities her body had as a youngster and neurologically how able her system will be to respond to what I am asking her to do and she did it very well.
What a superb session and what an amazing young lady. I enjoyed my own learning curve and the insight it gives me into powerlifting. This is a lifestyle.
With the right treatment and care, her best is yet to come.
Do you lift and would you like some added Physio deliciousness to your session?

|DANCE LIKE NO-ONE IS WATCHING| : : As a kid I spent my life bouncing around, upside down! I was a gymnast! I spent more time on my hands than I did on my feet! For me that was life...it was normal and I loved it! Gymnastics, dance and choreography...energising, creative and refreshing! :... : Some of you will know that I injured my shoulder a few weeks ago and I have been doing my own rehab! I had the chance to piece together my shoulder rehab with my passions, dance and choreography! Just epic! : : Check out this short video as I demonstrate cartwheels and the such, actively loading my shoulder! : : Movement is medicine and Physio is a great tonic! : : Thank you @rachaels_universe for a wonderful energising session. : : #physiotherapy #shoulderpain #shoulder #gymnastics #dance #yoga #movement #movementismedicine #movementisart #feeling #power #emotion #feeling #dance #dancelikenooneiswatching

|YOUR SHOULDER INJURY|
Sometimes in Clinic I use video footage to show you how your body has started to compensate as a result of your injury. It can be quite a shock to my patients as they observe their movement patterns and it doesn’t then take Einstein for them to realise why they have the pain they have or the difficulties they have with certain functional activities. :
This young man (Who gave me permission to use his footage) had a fall on his right shoulder and whilst ...it isn’t really painful 😖 he is struggling to lift any load or reach! :
Take a look 👀
Do u need a trained eye to see this altered movement pattern?
This movement is active assisted shoulder flexion in standing
Tell me what you can see!

|Watch the flower blossom|
This is a massive congratulations to my patients who sat their A-Levels and nailed the results and of course to those who might need the strength to make some alternative decisions.
There’s one young lady in particular who I have been treating for some time now and she continues to surpass her expectations despite a very longstanding problem that she has. Yesterday her family commended me on the support that I have provided as she has required treat...ment. That right there for me is job satisfaction...first hand! Thank you!
Exams and other life stresses can really exacerbate a pain that you normally just live with. People need to be more aware of that, particularly in our youngsters.
If you can’t climb the mountain, walk around it.
Young lady, you know who you are! I am very pleased and proud of you.

|WHERE DOES YOUR ‘THERAPY’ REALLY BEGIN?| : : My take on Physio is all about helping you to feel better. Better about your body, awareness of how it moves, can move and should move! Sometimes a break from your normal routine is needed to give you the chance to see and feel how your body is really doing! What do you think about that? :... : Happy Tuesday people. |FREAKY FRIDAY| : : ...and the shoulder rehab continues! :... : I posted this one in the middle of the week on my instastory. : : So I’m training, steadily! I have full flexion (forwards and up with my arm), full abduction (out to the side and up), internal rotation (hand behind back) but I’ve only got about 3/4 of my range back into external rotation. Of course I have to bear in mind that my external rotation has always been stiff but comparatively it isn’t quite there! : : I’m now five weeks into my recovery. My movements are relatively slow and controlled when I train and I am not pushing into my pain. : : I won’t lie, there’s an occasional ache that refers down into my arm after a tough session but it doesn’t last and my sleep and day to day activities are not restricted like they were. : : On the whole I’m doing alright 😉 : : Check out my vid...it gets tough by rep 7 by I have done 2 sets of 12 by this point! 💪🏾 : It can be tough being on the other side but when your friend and colleague outlines the risks of not managing this properly, I had to listen. Not that I didn’t know myself but sometimes you just have to hear it! : : Thank you to the people that have been looking after me on this journey. I find that sometimes I have to combine all three learning styles (auditory, visual and kinesthetic) to really help my patients to fully understand (1). What’s happening to their bodies following an injury (2).To encourage them to follow their exercise programme. :... : I don’t always know which learning style my patient needs initially but that’s the beauty of the initial appointment...we get to know you that little bit better. : : Some people need that little bit of extra time whilst others come in almost well versed from their own research! : : #toreasonornottoreason #thatisthequestion #clinicalreasoning #physio #physiotherapy #sportsinjuries #shoulderpain #kneepain #pain #chronicpain #movement #wednesdaywisdom

Where do I begin when it comes to the healing hands of Leanne, having had back surgery nearly 7 years ago, I’ve met my fair share of physio’s but never have I met someone like Leanne. She will never be rich because after a couple of sessions, with her healing hands you’ll feel just perfect again! She has an incredible way of just getting to the core of your issue/pain immediately and sorting it out fast, more over she’s one of the nicest people and incredibly knowledgeable

User

What an absolutely brilliant physio!! I hurt my knee playing tennis. Leanne saw me the same day and immediately got me mobile. Three weeks later I was back playing tennis even though I thought I was going to be out for much longer. The woman has magic in her hands.

User

THE BEST PHYSIO AROUND! Recovering from a broken leg, Leanne had me walking in no time. Her attention to detail is incredible, along with her wealth of knowledge and her caring approach.

Also I went to a physio in a hospital and they didn’t have the knowledge and understanding that Leanne had. Can’t recommend her enough!

Really impressed with Leanne's dedication to solving my back issues - thoroughly recommend!

User

Leanne not only treats the physical problem but also happens to be a lovely and warm person! She really helped build my confidence back up after an accident and sorted out by leg and back too! I’d recommend Leanne 100%

User

Leanne is extremely professional, instantly putting you at ease and really listens to your needs. The way she understands the body is incredible and really takes her time to get to the root of the problem, her treatment and advice has worked wonders. I will continue to see Leanne for as long as I can. She's the best! :-)

User

Leanne if the adage of " pleasure in pain " is true then you are testimony to it. Every moment of pain ( not that bad ) has been worth it - two sessions with you and my niggling tennis elbow disappeared. I truly appreciate your diagnostic expertise and your hands on approach. There's magic in those fingers!!! Thank you so very much. See you soon for my regular MOT.

User

Incredibly impressed with Leanne's ability to assess a problem and treat it so effectively in one session. I had seen numerous other professionals and none had worked out what was causing the pain. Leanne's thorough, patient and diligent assessment meant she could provide healing to a displaced rib such that I could run a half marathon only three days later! Cannot recommend enough. Definitely my first port of call from now on.

User

If anyone is in need of a highly skilled ,empathetic and knowledgeable physiotherapist, then Léanne is the professional to visit. She has helped my knees no end.

Don't suffer in silence.....give her a call.

User

I've had to live with my pain/injury for more than three years, and over that period was diagnosed and treated by several GPs, consultants, physiotherapists and an osteopath. In the end, out of desperation, I opted for cortisone injections. But nothing made a difference.

I was therefore very surprised that after only two treatment sessions with Leanne I noticed a significant improvement. At the end of the six sessions I could not be happier with the progress made towards recovery.

Leanne clearly has a passion for what she does and combined with her incredible intuition makes her an awesome healer. Thanks Leanne!!

User

I saw Leanne for 6 sessions following rotator cuff repair surgery. I am from the US and had already gone through about 9 weeks of therapy there. Leanne's approach was highly effective... she got me back to full functionality with fewer sessions and time per session than I would have done in the US. Her manual therapy, as well as home exercise program (which I followed religiously), was fantastic. I haven't seen her for a month now, and would never know I ever had shoulder issues, much less surgery! Leanne is kind, yet professional. Highly recommended!

User

I have just completed my fit back and bump course this week. I had my baby a year ago but could never find someone to help me get back into exercise who actually knew about woman's bodies when they have had a baby then I met Leanne. She helped me with my back pain and taught me the right exercises to get me back to where I use to be! I couldn't recommend her course enough and if I could go every week I would be there!

User

I first met Leanne at a well-being event where she treated me as part of a 20 minute taster session, but the impact of that treatment lasted in a weeks worth of relief, I was amazed by what she achieved in such a short time. I have since started a treatment programme with her. Leanne has fantastic knowledge of the moving body, and shared my issues in a way that helped me to understand what was happening in my own body better, thus helping me to focus on rehabilitating the right areas. I can’t recommend her enough!

User

District Physio offers problem solving solutions to help with injuries and keep you exercising. Leanne has a unique approach that is friendly and professional. Couple with her sports massages - this has to be some of the best physio and advice that I have received in a while and the combination of physio and massage have me in less pain, more flexible and exercising. Thank you.
