It is World Lupus Day
I know, I know... if you have ever watched House, you will know that it is never lupus. But sometimes... it is.
So what is Lupus?
... Lupus is a long-term autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. Symptoms include inflammation, swelling, and damage to the joints, skin, kidneys, blood, heart, and lungs.
Please see a GP if you get: - joint pain and stiffness - extreme tiredness that won't go away no matter how much you rest - skin rashes – often over the nose and cheeks
As well as the 3 main symptoms, you might also have: - weight loss - swollen glands - sensitivity to light (causing rashes on uncovered skin) - poor circulation in fingers and toes (Raynaud's)
