Thank you to those who came to Galleons reach shopping park today. (And it was today not tommorow although my post from yesterday appeared this morning!) Although there were several short sharp showers that may have put off some shoppers, we met lots of lovely people and had a lot of interest. Great to catch up with our friends at UEL sportsdock and to chat with the guys at East End runners. A few pics of some of our students and might I add, super sales kids! Thanks again guys.

Docklands Shoujin Karates next junior and senior club gradings will commence the week of 17th to 22nd June. So time to put in the extra attendance and training in preparation. Open grading practice sessions are on every Friday from 6-7pm for sensei to assist with preparation for gradings. These sessions are Β£5 and are not included in monthly fees unless you are on an unlimited package. Forms for eligibility will be coming out early May, but final grading will still depend upon good attendance and whether sensei believes students are ready for next grade, so if you dont recieve a form and feel you should be grading please discuss with Sensei directly.

We Need You!!! May 11th Galleons Reach shopping park, we have been invited to demo and tell people about DSK. We'd like as many of our students to come and support us and show a little of what they learn. All ages and levels welcome. If you are free between 11 and 4pm (dont need to be available for whole 6hours, 2 hour slots would be great) please let us know asap. Thanks for your ongoing support.

Open to any Shoujin licence holders intermediate to elite level, as is Sense Tony Solleys fight night on Thursdays 7-9pm. With these opportunties to train with amazing coaching locally. You'd be mad to miss out.

From DSK, a huge congratulations to Joe Kellaway coming into the party late and winning the 10k, with some great fights against some tough opposition. The final was against the legend Rene Smaal. One of the legends of modern karate and a real peoples champion. Which will am sure be the case for Joe when that day comes. Testament to that was a gracious speech by Joe about the respect he has for his opponent, his admiration and inspiration gained from watching his career.
The lesson Id like all to take away from this is, that in every defeat is a lesson how next to succeed, but to be gracious in success, is the difference between a winner, and a champion.
Thanks again for inspiring the upcoming generation Joe Kellaway and for making the older generation proud.

REMINDER-There is no grading practice class tonight at dojo between 6-7pm. Ckasses as usual Saturday 9-10 am, and Monday evening 6-9pm as usual. Thank you

A reminder that we are open all through the Easter holidays, classes as usual, and dont forget Sensei Tony Solleys advanced kata course today from 10-2pm, and contact Joe Kellaway (or now should I say, European bronze medallist Joe KellawayπŸ‘πŸ₯‹) regarding spaces on his two days of kumite courses on 11th and 12th at the DSK dojo.
Heres some of the Easter fun so far.

User

Thank you to Danielius Pavilonis and J.J. Francis for a fantastic Easter course for beginners to intermediates. The students had a fun filled day of kumite and kata workshops including a little bunkai action. The feedback was great, so we look forward to inviting this dream team back for more courses in the future. Nice to dig out these comparison picture of these two close team mates aswell! (They wont thank me for this πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ₯‹)

Still time to book. Suitable for beginners of all ages. A great opportunity to train with these successful talented athletes.

DSK would like to thank all the mums that run themselves ragged to get their kids to class, that are constantly blamed for every missing item in your kids kit bag, for the sacrifices both finacially and time to take kids to comps and training on what would otherwise be your only rest days. We feel your pain and we appreciate you more than we can say. We will carry on giving our best when you get them to the club. Happy Mothers day.

Yesterday some of the ladies of DSK were invited to meet Christine Ohuruogu where we got to here about her journey in sport, her support network and what she did to train herself to world and Olympic championship sucess. The strong message that we took home is that only you can decide if you want to suceed at competition, and to trust your coach, even though some days you might hate them. They dont have to do what they do either, so if they are making the effort whether its what you want to hear or not, its because they believe in you. Christine was so lovely, down to earth and showed that with focus it's possible to reach your goals. Having heard her speak we hope that as ladies of DSK we will continue to inspire everyone at DSK. And if you want to reach the top of your game we are here to support you.
