About Doctor Ink'S Curiosities

Victorian Inspired Cocktail Bar, Absinthe Parlour, Gin Joint and general den of iniquity. Located in The UK’s Oldest Customs House on Exeter’s Quayside.

Doctor Ink'S Curiosities Description

The epicurious Doctor Ink has landed on our shores from distant lands.

Born the illicit love child of a drunken encounter of her Imperial Majesty, Queen Victoria Regina and a young Cecil Rhodes, the story of Daedalus Ramssees Ink is riddled with controversy from the very moment he drew his first breath.

His latest den of inequity, hiding in plain sight, can be found at Her Majesty’s customs house on the quay of Exeter’s historic waterfront, the oldest customs house in Britain. A night out with Daedalus will offer curious drinks from all corners of the empire.

The Doctor has travelled the length and breadth of the empire and beyond. His roguish nature has led him astray on more than one occasion and caused many a cuckolded husband or ten. He has been chased out of more ports than he can recollect however he always manages to grab a memento before he escapes.

On Tuesday 5th March at 3pm we are delighted to welcome Savatore Damiano to Exeter. Salvatore is the President of the UK Bartenders Guild as well as the Brand ambassador for Pedrino so this is the perfect opportunity for bartenders to taste an amazing product and meet the great man himself.

More great news- the Galapagos were instrumental in Darwin’s theories it is great to see this story in the news today our next menu takes its inspiration from these titans of scientific discovery and we are having so much fun researching the natural world

User

Loving the fact that Wallace's bee has been rediscovered, Named after Alfred Russell Wallace who was instrumental in the origin of the the species and the theory of evolution and as big and as important as as Charles Darwin. this bee has a 6cm wingspan and is the size of your thumb. Not seen since 1980 and feared extinct. A true natural treasure

Happy Saturday Exeter #barlife

Inspiring 2 days research at one of Britain's best treasures researching for our new menu. This museum was one of my favourite places from my childhood.
Before we do any menu we spend months coneptualising & researching this is prior to thinking of creating any drinks.
This process stems from the belief that creativity comes from immersing your self into the source material and never having a preconceived idea prior to this.
... The next list is still months away but cannot express how exited I am about this project and with a new team to boot.

This #valentines why not pop down and share in some of our delicious ‘Amare’ #love #poetry, this poem Silentium is a inspired by all things Mediterranean with Italicus - Rosolio di Bergamotto at its heart a dash of @wreckingcoastdistillery #scurvygin a pinch of Cornish Sea Salt and home made lemon and olive sherbet, a #spritz drink with low abv and evokes memories of the summer on these cold winter days.
The poem is inspired by the birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli. Photo by @cocktails_and_cardigans_ @ Doctor Ink's Curiosities

Went here for the first time last night and it was fabulous! The bar tenders are passionate and knowledgeable on their work, the atmosphere was fantastic and the cocktail was absolutely delicious - best I've had in Exeter! We will definitely be back!

User

My family and I embarked upon a themed evening of drinking in Exeter, frequenting the finer establishments the city has to offer. Dressed in our 1920's finest, our first and most obvious choice was Doctor Ink's. It was probably the finest of fine bars; an absolute wonderment of nostalgia with a wonderful ambience.

The staff were both dapper and courteous, service exceptional, and as for the drinks - you don't get a cocktail here - you get a work of art. Even the drinks list (the good Doctor's Journal) is impressive. An absolutely spiffing 5 stars is thoroughly deserved for this tremendous establishment. My good Sir - I would doff my cap to you (if I had one).

User

Love the menu. The service and drinks were first class!

User

It's a long drive from Essex on a Saturday at the start of the holiday season and I found this place by chance. Very good selection of unusual cocktails. The gin based Whitechapel Lady was so good that I had to have two on such a hot day. Loved the style and extra touches of carafe of iced water and dainty tea cup!!

User

If you love Cocktails this place is a must visit! These aren't the usual cocktails you find in most bars. They have taken cocktails to the next level with an experience thrown in. Love the menu / book that explains the story and origin behind each drink. The Bar itself almost transports you back in time to a Victorian era. Although we had two cocktails each we could have stayed there all evening trying many more. We will be back soon!

User

I absolutely love the good doctors bar. It’s an amazing experience. The cocktails are out of this world. It’s simply the best bar in Exeter. Love it. Love the drinks. Love the atmosphere. Love the service. Sophie, Ben, Tom, and Patrick are wonderful. We are very lucky to have Dr Inks. Being a Londoner myself I had not thought I would experience a world class bar like this outside of the smoke. I look forward to every visit.

User

Had a fab time great that staff have been well trained so our cocktails were made quickly and were great really enjoyed it liked that the staff automatically brought over some iced water in cute cups 😁

User

Great little place to go for a pre drink. Like stepping back in time. Curious little place you'd walk past and miss an experience.

User

Finally visited Dr Inks! For the area this bar is 2nd to none. atmosphere was great and it would be too easy to spend a long evening here. The cocktails were on another level, complex, clever, balanced and tasted fantastic. all the best for the new menu launch

User

Extensive drinks menu, great theme and really helpful, knowledgeable staff.

Me and my friend are Vegan, so the staff member who served us helped us choose a cocktail that we would suit our tastes and then checked all of the ingredients in the drinks we chose.

Well worth a visit!

User

Amazing place with best cocktail list in UK , congratulations to all team ! Well done

We have visited yesterday 15.10.17 tried 10 cocktails from journal 2 , fantastic 👌👌👌

So much thought in every cocktail and presentation

User

Amazing ! and very different experience . Huge amount of detail not gone un noticed . Lovely to go to places that are so individual and devoid of a standard issue corporate stamp . Service was sooooo good . Thanks Sophie and Ben . We will be back

User

Absolutely amazing place, staff very attentive, drinks are out of this world. So nice to go somewhere different than the normal bar. Whoever came up with the idea is brilliant

User

AMAZING - beautifully presented cocktails, amazing service! Never been to such an amazing little place! Beautiful decor and the cocktails were to die for! We came out nicely merry after a few cocktails! Such a good experience! Loved everything about it!
