Went on Monday and the mushroom and ham pizza was amazing! The handcut chips were nice and fluffy and I highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding! Overall great place to eat, will definitely visit again

We live in Hampshire, but try and get up to the Lakes yearly, and we always go to Dodds, the whole family love it.

Up here for our minimoon and we wish we were staying longer so we could go again.

Been twice while we have been here, the food is amazing. So much flavour, full of colour and perfect proportions. Had a few cocktails too which looked beautiful and tasted great.

The staff we fantastic, happy to make recommendations and always smiling.

The bill was very reasonable considering how much we had.

We leave tomorrow and are already looking for excuses to come back.

To give you an idea of how excellent the food is here, we drove to Dodd’s from Blackburn yesterday evening (after work) for our anniversary meal! We were both looking forward to having the pork belly but they’d sold out - we were wounded! So I had the steak and my partner had the swordfish, both highly recommended. The sticky toffee pudding with mint choc chip ice cream is far too good to ignore so we both had that too. Absolutely adore everything about this little gem of Ambleside xx

This is the 2nd time we have been to your restaurant and I must say we always come back when we are back in Ambleside. The food is excellent, service is spot on with warm and friendly staff, we will definitely be coming back into your restaurant when we are here again in September.

Popped in for a light lunch today. Beautiful Veggie pasta dish, the kids had one of their best ever pizzas and the chips were proper homemade. First visit but we'll be back!

Picked this restaurant purely on recommendation and boy did it live up to it. Short wait for table but that was to be expected as we visited at 8pm on a Saturday night. Had 3 courses and have to say I was very impressed with the quality of all dishes. Service very good too. Have had many Italian meals in my time but this one was right up there with the best. Will definitely visit again when next staying over in Ambleside.

If only there were more stars available!! The food here is fantastic. Absolutely yummy. We ate here 3 times during our week and had something different each time. It was all consistently good and reasonably priced. The staff are lovely and welcoming and the whole place is just cosy and inviting. If you are eating in Ambleside you must eat here but it does get really busy especially at weekends - because it’s so good!!! But we got a table each time we went so all good for us!!

Great quick service, good prices for the quality of food we got. We’ve been several times before for lunch and dinner, both equally good. We would definiyly recommend to friends and family and will be visiting again ourselves in the future.

Fantastic takeaway from Dodds last evening, both hubby and I opted for pizza!.. Pollo E - Prosciutto for me! And Pizza Inferno for hubby, and a salad on the side to share!..... both smelt amazingly delicious via our short walk back to our hotel, we were far from disappointed. Both pizzas were fabulous and loaded with fresh and tasty toppings cooked to perfection on the homemade pizza base. The parmasan shavings on mine were insanely generous also. Would love to of eaten in the restaurant it looked very inviting, but we had our dogs with us.

Fantastic food, lovely presentation, helpful staff, great atmosphere. Best Italian in the Lakes. Definitely worth checking out and now on our top 10 favourites in Cumbria 😋

Came across this restaurant quite by chance , very deceptive appearances but amazing food , my husband had the calves liver and I had belly pork , both meals presented perfectly and enjoyed very much , would def recommend a visit here .

Another fabulous meal at Dodds. We have been visiting for many years and have never been disappointed. Great food, excellent friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Be prepared to get there early in summer as it’s always a popular teatime place.

Another delicious meal at Dodds one of our favourite places, we’ve been coming here for years whenever we visit Ambleside! Never disappointed the food is always yummy with great service, polite staff and great value!

Good food, great service, very relaxed atmosphere and a great place to unwind after a day on the hills.

Excellent food waiter kept forgetting my wine order, and the was really uncomfortably hot

Visited Dodds last night with my family, had heard great things so was looking forward to a lovely meal. I ordered pizza as did my dad and we both said it was nice, not great but ok. My mother ordered a seafood pasta dish and said it was lovely and my sister ordered a chicken dish which she said was delicious. Service was pretty prompt and it was all reasonably priced. My problem comes when I asked if the pizza which I wanted to order had vegetarian pesto on, the waitress said yes, so I said "so it doesn't contain Parmesan?" She said yes it does . . . I said "but Parmesan isn't vegetarian" I got told it was cheese! She said she would check and I heard her talking to the chef through the serving hatch which is on display to the restaurant. In the end I went over and spoke to the chef myself who told me that he was vegetarian but eats Parmesan, it's only vegans who don't eat cheese, I asked if it was real parmesan cheese they use or just Italian hard cheese, when he told me it was always real Parmesan I explained to him that Parmesan is not vegetarian as it is made using animal rennet and said maybe they should change their menu to indicate that the dishes marked with a V are in fact not vegetarian. Felt a bit stupid if I'm being honest that in 2018 I have to explain the both a waitress and chef that certain cheeses are not vegetarian. So something that may seem a small issue in fact turned out to be a big fuss and put a bit of a downer on the meal.
