We adopted our dog, Tink, from your Darlington branch back in October 2014 and we were very happy with the process and how happy your staff were to answer any questions we had and support us in adopting our first dog.

Unfortunately, yesterday Tink succumbed to cancer but we want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt her, but also for giving her a second chance with a loving home. She had a wonderful three and a half years with us and I couldn’t have asked for a better dog.

Hope to adopt from you again sometime in the future.

Visited Snetterton today with my son, who has Autism, and is on his work experience with me (i am a Behaviourist/trainer). The staff were very friendly and answered all his questions, and were very cheerful and kind showing him round.

I was very impressed with how clean the facilities were and how knowledgeable the staff were, and i happily sponsored a dog for my son too.

User

The knowledge, care, love, dedication and commitment from EVERY staff member and volunteer blows me away. Some really tough heartbreaking decisions have to be made at times and this is never EVER easy, all other options would be tried and or considered first taking in to account every account of what is BEST for the dog.

Please do not be so unkind to such a great charity who has helped 1000’s and 1000’s of dogs not just in the UK but worldwide.

Keep up the fantastic work Dogs Trust .

The clue is in the name "DOGS trust" not ever will it be "PEOPLES trust".

Not only have you taken the pain so this precious little girl, Bella, doesn't have to be tortured by those who feel the need to experiment with her life, you have willingly taken the nasty back lash that has come with that decision.

I cannot praise your care and bravery enough, you have saved the lives of thousands and thousands of dogs worldwide.

I know you will continue to take the pain so many of our loyal little canine friends dont have to suffer. x

In light of the recent backlash regarding Bella I wanted to have my say.

Human beings have campaigned for many years about the equality of mental health and physical health - if Bella had damaged her bones making it painful for her to live then there would be very few people in disagreement at the decision to PTS. Unfortunately, people cannot see this in a dogs mental state, why should it be treated differently?

There is a large quantity of people who have taken the opinion of a non-qualified and non-experienced canine 'professional' who have taken what she said at face value. Unfortunately, social media allows a platform where people can publicly state their opinion without coming face-to-face with the situation. They love to hate on a company because that is the platform we have built. No matter what Dog's Trust say, no one will believe them.

I am a proud parent of two wonderful collie crosses who have come from the Basildon centre. The dedication of the staff and their passion for what they do in a 24/7, physically demanding job has been essential to the development of my two little terrors. Unfortunately, these certain people who have believed the original story have been throwing abuse left, right and centre - not only online but at the centre and over the phone. Threats have been diverted to the police and dedicated staff who have had no involvement have been aggressively sworn at. How is that humane!?

DT have a long, thorough, drawn out process to ensure that they 'never put a healthy dog down' - this means both physically and mentally. So called 'experts' and 'behaviourist' who apparently approached the centre clearly have not understood the situation that Bella was in. DT have some of the best behaviourists and access to the best vets in the area. This decision would not have been taken lightly nor would they have taken any risks.

Also, those who have decided to cancel their donations - there are 120 other dogs at the centre and by cancelling donations that means there is less money for the vet costs, food and general care. A negative reputation also means there will be less handovers and rehomings - who may well go to unsuitable homes or unclean rescue centres. P.S. Dog's Trust have raided other rescue centres (legally) because of how malnourished the dogs were.

No one seems to talk about how Dog's Trust have saved thousands of abandoned dogs who would have died or stayed in horrible homes with awful owners. Despite my views, wrong or right, if DT had the choice of saving 1 dog over 100 or 100 over 1 dog, unfortunately there's only one option.

Don't always believe what you read! DT will never put a healthy dog down! Keep up your amazing work - every member of staff is an inspiration!

User

I like what you‚Äôre doing & I‚Äôm aware of your love & dedication to dogs. I know the situation in getting worse in the ÔŅĹ & not better. The right solution is to ban all internet selling of live animals.

Please fight to bring about that new law & help all animals.

User

Having seen your work first hand with an understanding of the work the staff and volunteers carry out, they are all extremely committed and dedicated to doing the right things for the dogs, including behaviour, training, medication/vets, hydrotherapy, exercise, food etc, I understand you would never put a healthy dog down and these negative comments are totally unjustified by people that clearly do not know all the facts but are strongly opinionated in what they have heard.

In light of this, I have set up a regular donation to Dogs Trust. Keep up the great work x

User

Dogs trust, absolutely brilliant caring and kind people, I rehomed a puppy in oct last year, and haven't look back, thanks to them and there trust I have a gorgeous boy, so thank you, and thank you, for the all the hard work you do, looking after these dogs, you truly are amazing xxxxxx

User

Dogs trust are an amazing charity and no doubt the staff work super hard doing what they do and have compassion for their work! One of the hardest jobs is rescue and I admire all the shelter workers out there!

User

Dogs Trust care so much about the dogs in their care; the dogs are always fed, clean, exercised, trained and enriched. Their training and behaviour teams are absolutely excellent and do everything they can to resolve pre-existing challenges and minimise kennel stress.

They don't take difficult decisions lightly but equally aren't afraid to make tough decisions if it is in the best interests of the dog - something that no-one outside of any situation can make a judgement call on. It is easy to make a popular decision; it is much harder, and requires courage and integrity, to make the right decision. When you know the work of Dogs Trust and their staff, you can see that the welfare of the dogs always comes first and for this, I applaud them and they have my wholehearted support.

User

Ahh the beauty of social media.....the Dogs Trust have been doing a fantastic job for how many years? & you all thought they were, because you so kindly donated your hard earned money to them but how you all jump on the band wagon when one difficult decision is made? And a decision that would never have been taken lightly? Shame on YOU, the people sending threats to the staff who care and rehabilitate the dogs in their care, dogs that we as humans have discarded because we care so little!! Have any of you really thought about the work that goes into a rescue centre, the love, care & emotional attachment that is given to each & every dog that passes through their gates? You all need to take a long hard look at yourself..... this social media barrage of hate is so unnecessary.

Very disappointed with the way me and my family have been dealt with at the Basildon Trust! I very much understand that they have to have due diligence and can't allow just any old person to re-home but on 4 occasions now we have been turned down for what seems to quite small reasons when every criteria is met.

I do understand the hard work the guys must put into the trust and but it is also very upsetting to be being turned away in the manner that we have!

User

It is with heavy-heart that I write this but after reading all of the posts and the repeated standard response from DT I have to say that their handling of the Bella situation falls well below that one would expect from this organisation that relays so heavily on the public’s support.

They have quoted WHO guidelines yet that could as easily apply to my own dog who with time and effort is enjoying life. Challenging yes but not unhealthy. Many offers of homes were from people that were willing to give the same time and devotion. Not all dogs fall into the category of ‚Äėpeople‚Äô or ‚Äėpet‚Äô friendly but it does not mean that they are not adoptable! Could you imagine if humans were given the same WHO guideline treatment, there would be a high number of the population that would be pts.

What is also disappointing is that DT are reposting the SAME standard response without actually answering the one main question which is why one of those offers of a home by someone that could give the time and care needed was not taken up?

Please do not embarrass your organisation by putting a standard response to this review as it will only show a blatant disregard for people’s intellect.

Your net assets were over £150 million pounds end of 2016 financial year yet you don’t support Lucy’s Law. Hmmm, funny that. You state in your financial report that you never put a healthy dog down, no longer true is it. You have the money and clout to make a different, Lucy’s Law would just be the start of reforming the puppy farming industry but no, you won’t do that even though the RSPCA etc has.

User

What a shame!to kill a healthy dog just because not was a perfect dog!Bella only needed a right person,a calm place and a change...which was offered by other Organizations btw but you not was let her go in the right hands.this is called murdering!

My son adopted a dog from the Dogs Trust approx 18 monhs ago. It has problems (which to a trained eye must have been obvious from it being a puppy) which will cost Thousands of pounds, which they can ill afford. In my opinion the problems should have been picked up by the Dogs Trust before the dog was put up for adoption. I understood dogs in their care were checked by a vet, but obviously not. My son has been in touch with the Dogs Trust to see if they could help at all but the answer he got was no, it's his dog now and they didn't want to know. The person he talked to was very unsympathetic too. I have always supported the Dogs Trust by donating every time they did a collection but I won't be anymore.

I’m absolutely disgusted what you did to Bella which we all know about , what about the ones we don’t know about . No way would I donate to such an organization like yours .
