Doncaster Womens Aid

Doncaster Women's Aid has been established over 35 and helps approximately 4000 enquiries per year, dealing with the impact on approximately 10, 000 children and 250 men per year who have been affected by Domestic Violence in the Doncaster Region. Our main objective is to: • Provide safe temporary refuge accommodation for women and their children fleeing domestic violence. • Empowering women to make informed choices about their, future, whether they choose to stay in or leave the abusive relationship through the provision of advice and support services. • Recognise and meet the needs of children affected by Domestic Violence • Conduct research in the field of Domestic Violence. • Provide training to external agencies on specific issues in relation to Domestic Violence. • To campaign for local and national improvements in service provision for women and their children subjected to Domestic Violence. Working with External Agencies: DWA works in providing advice to external businesses and support services looking to understand more about the effects of Domestic Violence. Our children's support services officer works with local schools to raise awareness with children to understand the signs and effects of Domestic Violence. We work with South Yorkshire Police, Doncaster Royal Infirmary and the Local Authority to share best practice and to ensure the services work in collaboration with each other to provide the best service to those affected by domestic violence. Sharing best practice with social workers, MARAC and local solicitors. Get Involved with DWADomestic Violence can affect anyone regardless of age, sex, gender, social class or religion. Every year we manage over 4000 calls from survivors and work with approximately 10, 000 children affected by violence in their home. We help women to flea dangerous situations, re-house those vulnerable, advice on leaving and help in issues with custody, rebuilding lives and confidence.
