Mr Abbad Toma FRCS (ORL) is a Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) and Facial Plastic Surgeon appointed to St George's Hospital and Kingston Hospital NHS Trusts. From 2001 to 2004 he was Lead Clinician of the Ear, Nose and Throat department at St Georges Hospital. Mr Toma is Honorary consultant to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where he advises on joint nasal sinus and eye conditions such as tear duct surgery and thyroid eye disease.
He served as South Thames regional representative on the ENTUK Council and the Professional advisory board of the Royal College of Surgeons (2010 – 2016)
He gained specialist training in Rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, USA and Switzerland.
After training with eminent Facial plastic surgeons in the UK, he gained further experience in Facial plastic surgery in Switzerland and France as Fellow of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery.
In 1999 he received full accreditation from the Specialist Advisory Committee in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and was awarded his Certificate of completed Surgical Training.
Mr Toma is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons, British Rhinological Society and the British Association of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
As a consultant in a major teaching hospital, he is heavily involved in education at all levels. Undergraduate Medical students teaching, Junior doctor training and General practitioner educational sessions. He has been the programme director for the Rhinology and Facial Plastic surgery fellowship at St George’s hospital since 2009.
He continues to conduct research in diseases of the nose and sinuses and minimal invasive surgery.
His special interests in addition to general adult and paediatric ENT are Endoscopic sinus surgery & Nasal plastic surgery.
