Brilliant staff and great doctors who give lots of time and do not rush you.
Very friendly atmosphere.
A great chemist which is at the entrance to the practice.

Only putting 1 star because there isn't a lower rating...

I visited the surgery on Tuesday 22nd august Regarding a head injury that happened a week prior. Was still getting headaches, nausea and just generally not feeling myself and the advice given to myself by paramedics was to visit my gp.

had a fairly short waiting time as the surgery was fairly quiet. So all appeared well. I was called into doctor Bell's office and before I even sat down I was greeted with a poor attitude.

I explained the nature of my injury and that I wanted a check up to make sure I was deemed fit for returning to work and that I was generally in good health. This instantly resulted in mr Bell telling me I was wasting his time and NHS time.

He then started asking me questions about which A&E was closest. And lecturing me about the budget cuts at Scarborough and possibility of the department moving to York.... he then proceeded to tell me that he has been a doctor for 41 years and is the oldest doctor around.... that's all well and good but 41 years service doesn't mean anything in terms of how good of a doctor you are and after 41 years you would have thought the man would have maybe picked up a few people skills, wishful thinking maybe!

So after been insulted/spoken too like a piece of dirt, and the only form of examination he gave me was looking at the scab on my head from a distance (which I'm sure was acceptable medicinal practice 41 years ago) he offered me a sick note. Which is all well and good however I could have booked time off work myself should this have been the case.

I was then lectured about smoking and drinking and was told that with smoking I have a 50/50 chance of death. And when he gave me the sick note he told me not to go out clubbing on Friday night...... all well and good, I quit smoking and drinking 6 months ago, maybe examine your patients in future before giving your so called "professional" advice.

I would highly recommend that as a surgery you start seeking feedback from your patients after their visits as I think you may get some very similar feedback from others, I have been with this surgery all my life and will definitely be going elsewhere in the future, this is not my first bad encounter with this doctor and I know of several friends/family members that have had the same problems.
