This job includes serving and dealing with customers, cash handling, cleaning, restocking, following health and safety procedures, and working as a team. we had a day out in york wednesday 18th jan ,we went into drakes for our lunch it was delicious ,i had scampi it was cooked in batter rather than breadcrumbs it was the 1st time i had it cooked that way it was very nice my husband had fish & chips everything was read hot & the girl who served us gave us excellent customer service well done x

You can't beat Drakes for fish & chips - it's the highlight of our days out to York.

The quality of the fish & chips is second to none and the staff are always attentive and pleasant.

You always leave knowing you've had a good meal !

Wow! What can I say! Best fish and chips in forever and the staff were awesome! At time of posting this me and hubby had 2 haddock and chips, the BIGGEST pot of tea, bread and butter (lush), curry sauce and mushy peas for just over ┬Ż21.00 - AWESOME xxx

We had the battered local sausage,chips and gravey

Absolutely gorgeous sausage was delicious very tasty and you got 3 of them

The chips were locally sourced potatoes and the gravey was thick and tasted

Excellent value for money

Will definately eat there again (this was our 2nd visit) while we are on holiday in Pickering

We had gluten free battered fish and chips, a lovely big pot of tea, we were given gluten free bread and asked if we'd like gluten free vinegar. The staff were really coeliac knowledgeable and made our evening REALLY pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a visit York booklet which we were looking at and were given free peas with our dinner, totally unexpectedly just because we had the booklet and they have an advert in it. Everyone was amicable and said cheerio when we left. Lovely food with Lovely staff

Was at Drakes yesterday lovely meal as always, friendly staff very attentive not rushed to finish meal been a few times when in the area would recommend.

The best fish and chips in York! Only grumble is, that the "downstairs" staff don't pay enough attention to the orders sent by those taking the orders!!! Tried to serve us cod instead of haddock and a MINISCULE (thimble sized) portion of tartare sauce for two people!!! Time to get real!!!

Proper Yorkshire chippy. Butchers choice pies and sausages available, fresh from a local butchers. Main meals served with bread and butter and tea or coffee. Easy to see why this place is award winning.

Loved the fish and chips today. Tasted really fresh, and got some tartar sauce which not every fish restaurant provides. If I had more change would have given a bigger tip ’┐Į.

Great fish chips (with cheese and gravy- it's a northern thing!)

Fantastic gluten free fish and chips,would be nice to have plain bread same as the non g/f option instead of seeded bread.Would be nice to see more desserts offered too but definitely recommend and will be back when next in York.

Drakes fish and chip shop in York does very nice gluten free fish and they also do gluten free scraps as well and I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to other people that eat gluten free

Best fish&chips ever whenever in York it's always the goto place for a meal awesome staff as well so friendly and helpful

Lovely fish great chips. Mushy peas too. Nice to have wine at a good price to go with the meal. Only one mistake. No mint sauce to go with the peas.

Haddock and chips 4x to eat inside nice meal, tartare sauce wasnt very tarty. But overall not to bad of a meal. Bread and spread so cant call it bread & butter....

Was lovely until I found a pube in my chips. Went back and told the manager who said it could have 'blown onto them in the street', and said the same even when I told him they were kept wrapped in a bag until I got back to work so couldn't have blown onto them. To not be offered a refund and told 'these things happen' simply isn't good enough from an award winning establishment. I left absolutely fuming and got some lunch elsewhere despite feeling sick!!! May I suggest your staff have some training in hygiene!
