New tillers installed today ready for our 2019 fastnet campaign. The mahogany will lighten to a gold colour over time.
The first time i have dropped the kedge anchor in 50m of water! Becalmed mid channel during the st malo race, doing 4knots through the water! Pulling it up again was interesting.
Calshot to weymouth in 5 and a half hours can’t be bad! Beat the other class 40 :-) we were given the wrong co-ordinates for the finish, so had to finish again somewhere else, still got there first though! Love the class 40. And we had cafetiere coffee onboard. Luxury.
Entered fortissimo into the rsyc double handed race to weymouth today. 07.25 start.
Busy day sprucing up fortissimo’s non slip with some new deck paint. No dirty shoes allowed onboard!
Stunning weekend sailing to poole and back with a quick stop at Cowes for lunch. Nice to be sailing in Shorts and Tee shirts, no jacket required!
Lots of offshore racing yacht action in the Solent today. Three IMOCA open 60s out, along with us in our Class 40 Fortissimo. Managed to reach 17 knots in flat water with a bit of tide underneath us. According to our polars that's not supposed to be possible... But it happened! GPS evidence courtesy of Marine Traffic. I saw 16.5knots on the B&G. LARBAR were out too training on a foiling GC32. Portsmouth harbour is where the action is!
ROUND THE ISLAND RACE 2018 on 40SIMO is back on!!! Due to a change of plans, unfortunately we will no longer heading to Ireland, but this means that we will now be able to take part in the RTI. We went to the boatshow on wednesday to see Hannah Stodel receive her award for yachtmaster of the year from HRH Princess Anne. Well done Hannah from all at Dream or Two, next objective is to get a Class 40. You can do it!
