Why should I train for a PCV D licence? Simply put, the best reason to get a PCV D licence is that once you are qualified, you will be able to apply for driving jobs with a huge range of organisations nationwide. Starting salaries for professional bus and coach drivers are impressive and you will be able to enter a rewarding career with a consistently strong demand from employers.

What specialist training will I receive for Horsebox training? The horsebox training offered by DriveLine HGV will not just enable you to safely use towed trailers, rigid or articulated commercial vehicles of a particular weight. We will also give you the skills you need to make sure that the animals on board arrive at their destination safely and in fine form. Our courses cover various aspects of equine transport, with industry-recognised accreditation on offer to those who pass. So whether you intend to learn to drive the horsebox you own, or to work as a professional in this industry, our training will be a valuable investment.

What type of licence will I require for horse box training? The type of licence you will require will depend upon the horsebox itself. For towed models you will need either a B+E licence if the vehicle doing the towing is a car, or a C1+E licence if you are intending to use an LGV. For rigid horseboxes, either a Category C1 or Category C licence will be necessary, depending on the weight of the vehicle. Category C1 training will help you to secure a licence to operate vehicles such as horseboxes weighing up to 7.5 tonnes, while a full Category C license will cover anything heavier than this.

Who should train CAT C1? Anyone with a UK driving licence who is over the age of 18 can complete one of our C1 training courses. And there are plenty of examples of careers in which this type of licence is useful. Anyone wishing to drive a variant of a large panel van, including those that have been adapted to act as ambulances, will need a C1 license. This can encompass everyone from paramedics to tradespeople. It is even necessary if you own or operate a horse box. Because the weight category covered by a C1 license is broad, you will really open up your career options if you take this training. It is also ideal if you eventually intend to apply for a licence to drive heavier vehicles in the future.

Who should train(C1+E)? This is a step up and a natural progression from the standard Category C1 licence. Many drivers choose to train and take the test in order to broaden their employment options further down the line. A C1+E license is also suitable for those who hold an existing C1 license and are working for an organisation which is looking to expand its transport and distribution capabilities by adding trailers to the fleet. In some cases, you may be required to hold a C1+E licence if you are intending to tow equipment for commercial purposes, or items such as boats for the purposes of leisure. The added flexibility that this license offers in terms of tow weight can be a benefit in a wide range of situations.

Who can take the category C+E licence test?
Provided that you are over 18 and have a full UK driving license you can begin the process of training for your Category C+E qualification.
You will need to undertake a Category C course beforehand as this is the initial rung of the ladder if you are just starting your HGV driving career. But for those who already have a Category C licence, moving up to a C+E license will be even simpler.
... Because we offer a number of training courses for people who want to do more with their career and open up a wide range of opportunities, getting through your Category C+E exams with Driver Training and Recruitment at your side is invaluable, whatever your past experience and circumstances.

What kind of HGV will a Category C+E licence enable me to drive?
There are two types of vehicles for which a driver will require this type of licence. It is necessary for anyone looking to drive a rigid HGV with a trailer attached, as well as for operators of fully articulated lorries comprising a tractor unit and an attached trailer body.
By taking one of our courses, you will be able to become an accomplished and highly employable driver, capable of skilfully transporting the largest payloads across the UK and Europe.

What vehicles can I drive with a Category C licence?
Rigid body vans and trucks of all types can be yours to command if you train with us and earn your Category C licence. There is no limit as to the weight of the vehicles you can drive; the only restriction being that articulated trucks or those with heavy trailers will still be out of your reach.
This is why many people choose to combine our Category C training with a subsequent Category C+E course so that they are qualified across the board.
