About Duddell'S London 倫敦都爹利會館

Set within the historic St. Thomas Church at London Bridge, Duddell’s showcases authentic Cantonese cuisine, hand-crafted dim sum & cocktails at the Bar.

Duddell'S London 倫敦都爹利會館 Description

Recently opened in November 2017, Duddell's London is the first brand of the celebrated restaurant and arts space concept to open outside of Hong Kong where the original was founded in 2013.

Set in the historic St Thomas Church in the heart of London Bridge, Duddell’s London showcases authentic Cantonese cuisine and hand-crafted dim sum, using only the freshest, high quality ingredients.

Heading up the kitchens at Duddell’s in London is Chef Daren Liew who was previously Executive Sous Chef with the Hakkasan Group and has over 20 years of experience in Cantonese cuisine.

Duddell’s London also features a destination bar with a dynamic wine list of old and new world wines as well as classic and innovative craft cocktails with an oriental twist.

The restaurant seats 110 persons with a mezzanine level offering dining space overlooking the restaurant as well as 2 semi- private dining rooms which can be combined to seat up to 20 persons.

Designed by Michaelis Boyd (Soho Farmhouse, Soho House Berlin), the restoration of the space aims to maximize the daylight and heritage elements of the building which remains as one of the most distinguished examples of Queen Anne architecture in London.
Duddell’s in Hong Kong was conceived to create a cultural and social destination for people with an appreciation for the arts, providing an inspiring backdrop where people could meet, eat, drink and socialize while surrounded by museum quality year-round art exhibitions.

As with Hong Kong, Duddell’s London will have a strong focus on its art programme and is set to become a destination for both foodies and art lovers alike.

How do senses affect our emotions and beliefs? Is sight more powerful than smell? Join us for a panel & drink at 5pm today where 'Doubting Thomas' artist Gayle Chong Kwan, Alex Rhys-Taylor from Goldsmiths, Julie Mathias from our neighbor Old Operating Theatre Museum, and Wendy W Fok + Elaine Young from Hong Kong Pavilion will tease out skepticism and the hierarchy of senses. Several spots left!

User

Admission free; Limited spots; RSVP essential to rsvp.london@duddells.co
Elaine Young and Wendy W Fok, Co-Chairs of the Hong Kong Pavilion, will give a talk about their theme of how smell is emotionally connected to memories, place and nostalgia by exploring their inspirations for the scratch-and-sniff wallpapers and the curated selection of design objects, artworks, publications, design research and their creators that work with smell and/or Hong Kong iconography. The talk w...ill cover how participants see their practices tell stories through their work, materials and processes - and look at how these narratives touch upon the emotional connection of aromas to food cultures, cha chaan tengs 茶餐廳 [Hong Kong Diners], incense, temples, worship, gentrification and the very origins of the meaning of the name ‘Hong Kong’ 香港 that translates as 'Fragrant Harbour' within personal and collective memories.
Following the talk and tour of the Hong Kong Pavilion, guests will be led on a guided tour of the London Design Biennale where 40 countries, cities and territories respond to the London Design Biennale theme of ‘Emotional States’.
As part of the collaboration between Duddell's London and the Hong Kong Pavilion, there will also be a panel discussion titled 'Skepticism and the Hierarchies of the Senses: Hong Kong Perspectives' at Duddell's London on Tue 4 Sep, 5-6pm. More info: https://www.facebook.com/events/289452501 643369/

Amazing Cantonese - better than anything we found whilst living in Hong Kong. Great, friendly service. Truffle vegetable spring rolls and the roast duck are amazing!

User

Absolutely amazing! Best food I’ve eaten in ages. Fabulous! Works outing. Service was 1st rate. Highly recommend.

User

Food was good BUT we turned up on Mothers Day. The restaurant was basically overwhelmed. No enough staff, long waits, multiple delivery of same food ( the guy in charge of order tickets at the kitchen was in melt down). I took the optional upgrade of inclusive drinks but my glass was empty most of the time.
