Two new beers for the outside bar. The River Festiv-ale was created exclusively for us by Brew Studio and Coastal Brewery’s Cornish cascade.

Riverfest – John Crampton
Sunday Afternoon
August 26th @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
... ” … John is one of those idiosyncratic British musicians like Lol Coxhill or Evan Parker maybe, who have taken a musical form, in this case blues, and adapted and evolved it into their own peculiar voice … john’s music is essentially blues but replaces the characteristics with his own idioms: shuffling 12 bar blues rhythm are replaced with up tempo 4/4 metronomically measured out on a simple foot pedal … instead of a formulaic flattened guitar chords, john’s playing is an eclectic mix of flamenco, west African ju-ju slide, country and punk … the tin guitar occasionally treated as a percussion instrument augmented by hand claps and foot taps … layered over this is Crampton’s gritty, growled minimal vocal and harmonica playing which again avoids blues stereotypes and harmonically adds to the range of the music creating a “big sound” like an irish string section moving loosely along with the guitars …”

The best pub in shoreham without a doubt! An amazing & lovely welcoming staff, a great array of all kinds of music and a bountiful amount of different drink to choose from!

User

The Duke of Wellington in Shoreham sounds like it might be a bit of a trek from Brighton but is actually surprisingly easy to get to - the 700 from Churchill Square has a £2 evening explorer ticket! and stops right opposite with return buses til the early hours - or the train station if it's not a strike day! is only 5 mins away - fantastic pub - it's a Dark Star pub that also has loads of guest beers and bottles - you won't be stuck for choice - a burner in the large patio garden - and free live bands every weekend - sight lines aren't ideal but the sound is fine and a lot of bands like playing here - some of their members even seem to have landed themselves a job behind the bar! - this is a lesser known rock and roll establishment that deserves a visit or three - a bit like New Orleans's Tippitina's of old that was located in the middle of a suburb - the dull surroundings make it shine that much brighter.

User

Great pub, and music venue, the quality of the bands is superb and covers a variety of styles, the punters and the drinks on offer are interesting as well. Not your average pub.

Absolute gem of a pub. Superb selection of real ales. Great live entertainment and manager Mark has a real passion for beer and his customers. Worth stepping out of the Brighton bubble for. The live entertainment on Sunday was also a real treat. Buzzing so make the effort to go.
